All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship 2026

You’re right. Connolly or whoever saying things like that doesn’t matter. And the thing about the trains is stupid too. Probably loads of Limerick people have trains booked for all Ireland day too.

Like you can cancel them

Joe and the panel were just asking questions. Fragile cork egos can’t handle that concept.

Go back and watch the link Ringo put of red FM asking supporters before the game who they’d rather play in the final, and say that doesn’t display a degree of misplaced arrogance. Pat Ryan seemed like a decent man, clearly did his best to manage several ‘personalities’ in the dressing room. Bin seems like an arse hole really. And a dumb cunt too. Most cork people are sound but their know it all’s are insufferable (no need to tag him) seeing Bin humbled is poetry.

Great post.

I think the Connolly criticism is way over the top. He said they go out to win every game, fair play. There’s plenty more sticks to beat that cork team with.

Maybe less stupid would be a start…

What do you think the problems are? There must be some element of truth in what they are saying when a county the size of cork where hurling is that popular hasn’t won in over 20 years and have in fact completely imploded when fairly warm favourites two years in a row. There must be some factor beyond ‘we have no ball winners in our half forward line’

You seem to be obsessed with attendances more than anything else

You seem worked up yourself my friend

There’s only one team can win every year, it’s hard
For a long time after 05 you had outstanding teams from Kilkenny and Tipp, then Limerick
Cork had their chances but fell just short a couple of times and there’s been some very poor displays in Croke park, I’m the furthest thing from an expert

But problems are surely with the players, coaches etc rather than the supporters, interview style or Ringmahon Rangers

Many supporters far more obsessed with the media portrayal of the sport than the actual sport

Look at the world cup thread or the rubby thread as much of the discussion is around the commentary team, pundits and journos as anything else

Is there a sense with cork that one informs the other? That the fans mood reflects the teams and vice versa. There didn’t seem to be any kind of cool the jets and calm the hype type messaging coming from the cork setup to tamp it down.

And in this internet obsessed age the focus has become on rubbing our noses in it, blaming the supporters and this famous ‘Corkness’ being a prime example, much more fun than discussing what happened between the white lines

You tell me is there

If Ben and the team can’t manage that themselves and it is feeding into their underperforming then they are not the right people for the job

I think there is. Or at least there’s a sense that there is. And I totally agree on the second part.

Can anyone recommend a local radio station that I can tune into rather than submit myself to Marty Morrisey fantasising about ‘first touches’

You seem to be saying this as a black and white that if there are people discussing the expectations of fans as being the only problem with the team. There are lots of issues, and the reason that this was at the very end of the discussion was because it is not a major issue, but it is, IMO, absolutely a contributing factor into the lack of effort and malaise that seems to seep into the cork team.

Its far from a new phenomenon. Ive been at plenty of cork wexford games where they wouldnt even rate us, and we’re only turning up to make numbers. 2 in particular come to mind, 03 and 16, where the supporters, not the players, have this arrogance that you arent even worth being at their level.

All the talk this year after the munster game was the likelihood of Cork and Limerick playing three games, particularly after the munster final. Now it wasnt all Cork people saying it either. But you cant say that all the outside chatter, and just that sort of dismissve attitude, doesnt seep into the players mindset. It happens plenty of teams, but i do find that it happens Cork a lot more than other teams.

Its far from the main issue or why they lost, but also i dont feel it shouldnt be dismissed as pub talk or rubbish. If donal og doesnt believe its a factor, and he should be able to give an insight as a former player, then he should just say that its not a factor and O Connor shields them from that sort of talk, but no, Donal starts bullshitting and “how many medals do you have”, which unfortunately actually lends itself to the attitude that we are talking about and gives more credence to the argument

Not at all, I think it’s given far more prevalence than it needs to alright, it’s the idea that the supporters are partly to blame because on the INTERNET those are the ones you can deal with.

If supporters are cocky then it’s not a good look, if you felt disrespected then I’m sorry that happened to you,
We’re no different at the end of the day, Cork are DESPERATE to have a successful hurling team, they will continue to turn up in massive numbers and play the Cocky Cork game because that’s a long established source of banter, I play that game all the time in the real world and I got it in spades last night in whattsapp, but it’s a gag :man_shrugging:

Joe has destroyed hoggy too it seems

I wasnt really saying it for an apology, albeit thanks, but not necessary at all, moreso that while you might feel its banter, but far far more dont and dont see it as a gag or can play it off when it doesnt go their way. And regardless of that, whether intended as banter or not being serious (which again, i dont believe), its hard for that mentality in general not be a factor in players mindsets and also why most of the hurling counties will take such glee in a capitulation like what happend last year and yesterday.

Its not a big factor, nor was it made out to be a big factor, but Donal Ogs over reaction and petulant response has made it that.

It is 100% being given far more discussion than necessary , I don’t know what you’ve been reading etc :man_shrugging:

Do you actually think that Cork people believe they are in some way superior to you? That to me is insane
