Allianz Football League 2013

Dubs were good tonight. Pretty efficient. Helped by woeful cork free taking

league is top 4 into semi finals so early results mean fook all…funny thing is gavin cud have picked a stronger team than he did…its hard to know which lads are getting the chance to impress him - the newcomers or some all irelenad winners from gilroy´s squad?.. :strokechin:

mccaffrey what an animal…speed which he covers the ground is ridiculous…

What relation is Paddy Andrews to Peader?

Good to see Paddy Andrews get five points. He’s taken an awful lot of time to find his feet at inter-county level but undoubtedly has the talent to deliver if persisted with.

brother…has the talent but seems to get over awed when it comes to championship…or maybe he just needs a few games in a row and a manager to believe in him…gilroy seemed to always be dropping him…think he might have even put him corner back for a while…he´s great club player with brigids…hopefully this will be the year he kicks on…

He was super tonight anyways. Where’s o gara? Mighty impressive display of panel depth tonight I thought considering the side Cork picked. Ye ran out of steam again though, and if either of our free takers were on form yed have been under pressure. Deserved win but

I look forward to hype machine building both Kildare and Dublin up over the course of the league due to the laziness of journos to go beyond Croke Park to report on games. Kildare look like a team that’ll run out of steam come June. In fairness to both winners, Donegal and Cork were fairly poor. Dubs look like they’ve a bit more about them though.

O gara is recovering from an operation…to be honest i can´t see him getting into team at all this year with gilroy not involved…for a start gavin seems to like fast snappy forwards…to put it nicley, o gara is a bit laboured at times…

Think you hit the nail on the head there. Andrews is definitely a player whose confidence can be brittle. It might just take a manager to put the metaphorical arm round him to bring the best out of him.

Cork created a ton just couldn’t finish it Mac. Thought Dubs looked wide open at the back. Easier fix that than a poor attack though.

I would hope to see the forwards line up something like the following come the championship:

Flynn

A. Brogan

Andrews

Kilkenny

Connolly

B. Brogan

I don’t see any other county matching that kind of firepower.

You sure they’re related?

I’m a fan. Don’t know any Dub fan who shares the view though. He did wreck against us in 10 SF for 50 mins think there is a place for him in most teams. He hasn’t trained on though in fairness.

I’ve seen enough in the last two weeks to revise my slightly sentimental view that Mayo will win the All-Ireland this year. If Dublin play to form, they’ll win it. I imagine it’ll work out as a Dublin-Cork semi-final with the winner to meet Mayo in the final. I wouldn’t take much pleasure from beating Mayo in the final however.

He’s a nephew of Eamonn Andrews and brother of Dave McSavage. Brother Ian played in goal for Celtic in the late 80s. Grandfather Isaac invented the Andrews liver salts.

Brave early call. Il be interested to see how hey go about it. Think Dubs need to focus more on what hey could have conceded tonight rather than the big total put up. Mayo wouldn’t give cork those opportunities, but if they were still there mightn’t have cored 1-20

i said it here before i think but i can´t see cork taking this league too seriously…it done them fcuk all use winning it the last 2 years…i´d say if they´ve a chance near the end of league to get in to top 4 then well and good…if not then who cares…Cork seem to really lack a leader in crucial times of games…

Dublin have a big chance this year because they have a squad much better than the one that won them all irleand and got them to 2 semi finals…

Donegal have a great team but not a great squad…history is against them and also they´ll have to hit the ground running as its tyrone up first…

think kerry will have one last lash at it…as bad as they were last year Donegal were hanging on at the end against them…considering the injuries thye had that day they don´t have a whole lot to find…

Mayo could easily end up in an all ireland final without beating much if draw goes right for them…leinster play munster in semi´s so if tyrone were to beat donegal in ulster opener and send them into back door you could have cork, kerry, dublin, donegal all over one side of draw with a bit of luck…

defo brothers…

you like rugby carter thats why you like him!!..ah no he can be effective and its no coincidence brogan had such a good year that year as O gara played so close to him and laid off and broke a lot of ball to brogan…i just don´t think he does enough on his own to merit a starting place…he´s just not comfortable on the ball and really gives the impression he doesn´t know what he´s going to do next…you see some forwards get a ball and go round a man and head straight for the goal…he doesn´t have that purpose at all´and also solo´s the ball very high…

Cork v Kerry in Killarney will tell a lot. If Cork win there for the first time since 1995 that will be a massive boost to them. Kerry will be a dangerous floater if they go through the back door but I don’t see them having enough to win it out. Tyrone if they stay injury free will win Ulster but it’s hard to see them challeging in September. I don’t see Donegal being a major factor this year, in fact I think they’ll do well to reach the quarter-finals. I have a hunch based on nothing really that Meath will get their act together in a big way this year but they aren’t good enough to win an All-Ireland. I can see them reaching a semi-final however. Derry may be another decent outside bet to reach the semis under Brian McIver. .
