Allianz National Football League 2025

Iā€™d imagine its just so the likes of Beggan and Morgan donā€™t immediately retire

The keeper one was left in because ā€˜innovativeā€™ coaches would have been so strongly opposed to taking it out when it formed such a central part of their gameplan. Boredom had me looking at some Cahair Oā€™Kane tweets Saturday night and a lad once from this parish appeared in the discussion. Apparently the new rules werenā€™t making the games any more exciting, and teams are still sitting back with it being farcical at club level. But by Sunday even the great man had to accept that reality was significantly different to the scenarios he had dreamt up in his head. I reckon the keepers will be left in their goals by the start of next seasons leagues.

Is the keeper coming out leading to more scores ? I think the overload gives the benefit and is leading to more scores. I think the fitness required for 11 v 11 isnā€™t sustainable unless we introduce rolling subs

Yeah it will either lead to more scores or more keep ball. It will be at its worst when a superior team is up by 5 or 6 and can just keep the ball endlessly in the other teams half with an extra man

Very positive article

Cahir is like a pr consultant for bogball mate, of course his article is positive

Weā€™ve broken the Nordies.

The 50m penalty has scared the bejaysus out of everyone. Referees, prayed for at every mass for the last three months, have never had things easier.

Imagine Joe McQuillan getting through Armagh-Tyrone without having to deal with a mouthful from anyone.

There could be no more definitive sign that things are working than the generally gloominess of coaches, desperate for things to complain about but struggling to find them.

Thats a fucking tragic stat. One of the games great fielders and they created a game not to allow him field.

  • In 76 games between 2019 and his retirement, Dublin hit Brian Fenton with just 59 kickouts. Significantly fewer than one per game.

Kerry looked very ordinary without joeā€¦the five goals aside

Early days but for those wondering how Poacherball might adapt to the new rules

Poacherball has found a way through

Half time
Laois : 3-12(21)
Leitrim: 0-2(2)

Be great to hear poacher ar half time. Keep it tight lads. No risky passes. Recycle.

Thatā€™s a sorry story, and completely self-inflicted by the county board who appointed him. Leitrim have good underage talent coming through as well, he should be given his petrol money in the dressing room at half time and told to stay in Newry for the rest of the year.

Yerra, itā€™s only the league.

Thatā€™s funny.

But Leitrim could have surely found someone, anyone better.

Even a player manager.

Poacher is all thatā€™s wrong with the coaching fraternity that ruined Gaelic Football.

Thatā€™s it in a nutshell. Charlatans and snake oil salesmen. Imposing themselves into the game that didnā€™t need them and calling themselves experts. Would Kinnerk be much better in hurling?

Ah I dunno.

Limerick will go long at least.

KK were the original drop the half forward line super deep merchants.

Correct done it against Galway one year I remember being at it.

Had 3 forwards up and everyone else back.

Made sure the clearances landed in the ground and the three lads fought like dogs for it.

That was Codyā€™s thing. Simple.

Could be 70 yards in front of a full forward line.

But they always kept someone close to goal and constantly moved.
