Alright Sort of the Year - 2012

Antonio Cassano.

Vincent Kompany.

indeed

Nominated him months ago for his reaction to his FA Cup sending off. An absolute gentleman. A worthy winner, lock the thread.

There seems to be a sort of corrupting cancer at the heart of upper class pursuits like golf, rugby union football and horse racing. Loathsome characters like Rory McIlroy, Alan Quinlan and JP McManus proliferate. Parents looking in are increasingly saying to themselves: ā€œdo I want my little Johnny to be involved in pursuits like these?ā€ The answer for any self-respecting parent must surely be no.

Association football on the other hand promotes character building values. Camaraderie, discipline, and a truly healthy lifestyle as opposed to the chronic obesity regularly seen in golf and rugby and the anorexic dwarfism seen in horse racing. Look no further than the Barclayā€™s Premier Leagueā„¢ winning captain. Vincent Kompany is a great example to kids watching on the telly. A tremendous ambassador for his sport, a role model and a genuine all-round nice guy. They say nice guys never finish first. Well, they were wrong.

Other sports simply donā€™t produce the same calibre of man as Vincent Kompany, Roberto Mancini, Antonio Di Natale, Pep Guardiola, Craig Bellamy, Steve Kean, Mick McCarthy, John Delaney and any other of hundreds of people I could name.

The values of golf, rugby union football and horse racing were the values that destroyed this country. Itā€™s the values of association football that will save the world.

My Wop mate lives near Mancini near Perugia and says everyone thinks heā€™s a wanker. I refuse to believe it though. Heā€™s aged a lot in the last 12 months though, hasnā€™t he? Itā€™s no wonder Clough took to the bottle, winning all those European Cups.

YASSSSSS!!!

Steve Kean.

Tom Ryan

Pat Spillane

Shared a train compartment yesterday with a lad whose group spotted Cesare Prandelli walking around Poznan and had their picture taken with him, which by his account Prandelli was only too happy to do for them and for other groups who subsequently spotted what was going on.

Furthermore to my last post, Cesare Prandelli.

Gigi Buffon.

Heā€™s seems a really nice man, will always be remembered as a man who achieved his limits but was cruelly exposed on an emotional level. Definitely over achieved which I guess is a good role model depending on your perspective

Was that in response to Tottiā€™s nomination of Rooo Keatingā€¦

Xavi Hernandez.

Kid, is this thing with Prandelli going to become an obsession, or is it just for today?
