Alright Sort of the Year 2014

He was 10th in the world which is a fair achievement completely different race to the one in which he was whinging about. Will medal at the europeans this summer if he races. How can you say giving a world ranked athlete 40k is a waste of money? Nike have also invested quite a lot of money so he must be doing something right.

Kiernan whinging about money is fair enough but having a go at the skill level and fitness of GAA players stinks of serious bitterness, the cunt

I saw some lad trying to have a cut at Kiernan earlier on facebook by claiming that he was a promoter of a “protestant sport”. Whatever you think of Kiernan, you’d want to be mad to trying to argue that the Brits invented running…

Controversial this though. Britain and NI sports get funding for their athletes based largely upon their likelihood of success at major events. This always seemed to me a bit of a risk of a self fulfilling prophecy for the "less successful " sports, but there you go. I’m not sure on what basis sports should be funded. The greatest good for the greatest number?

Greedy as much as weak. Same as every other fucking government. Spineless bastards with an eye on uncle sam’s teat.

That’s how its funded in Ireland too. “Podium” athletes get the biggest slice and then the amount reduces on a sliding based on competitive in major championships they are likely to be.

Mad bastard.

yeah there are 18 who got it this year - 9 Olympic and 9 Paralympic who each get 40k

On average countries win 1 medal at the Olympics for every 1m they spend on their high performance programmes so we punch slightly above our weight because of the boxers (boxing is also slightly easier to medal in as more than top 3 get a medal)

Team GB pulled all money from basketball. They have focussed their money on rowing, cycling where they perceive an advantage in terms of winning medals because they are technical sports and outside budgets of many countries

And sailing.

I thought a Rhodesian Ridgeback was some class of a hen?

No that’s a Rhode Island Red, mixer. A very good laying hen. Rhodesian Ridgebacks are dogs bred to round up slaves. @caoimhaoin has one.

Fagan, you’re a mine of information, a good man for a pub quiz I’d say

That I am but I am no good on questions relating to low culture, horse racing and identifying pictures of celebrities from the pages of hello.
In my day I was a schools, Scor, Macra and Pioneer quiz champion and I once represented my county on Cross Country Quiz with Peter Murphy. We were beaten in the first round, but it was happy with my performance.

José

Shawn Kuykendall was a midfielder for DC United who made his debut for the club in a friendly against Chelsea nine years ago. On March 12 he lost his battle with cancer and on hearing the news, Mourinho sent this letter to his parents.

Jose on the other hand is truly the special one .

Paul Rudd seems like awfully good fun

What question did you ask me that you think my answer would be yes to?

“Would you have sex with Paul Rudd?”

Well are you offering a dollar or not?
