Am I gone bland?

The blandness of the people I work with is killing me and is possibly making me bland…

Granted it that its the IT industry I work in but spending 40 hours plus with these cretins is taking its toll on my sanity.

This industry is rife with humourless gaping eyed cunts and I have resorted to lunching on my own as a result.

I spent saturday working with a few lads in the property industry and yesterday with a silage crew and the quality levels of banter filled me with emotion.

It’s fuckin horrendous. I was at an event recently and from looking around the room you can tell almost immediately which of the geeks are to be avoided at all costs.

How do you manage to stay so fresh and hip when you’re surrounded by these fuckers Runt?

Luckily enough I’m not surrounded by them and only deal with them when absolutely necessary.
I do my own thing.

That’s key with working with these fuckers, only deal with them when absolutely necessary, other than that avoid the cunts at all costs.

I know you’ve got a missus and child, pal, but is there no Dawn type figure for you to bond with at work in a non-sexual manner?

“The people you work with are just people you were thrown together with. Y’know, you don’t know them, it wasn’t your choice. And yet you spend more time with them than you do your friends or your family. But probably all you’ve got in common is the fact that you walk round on the same bit of carpet for eight hours a day. And so, obviously, when someone comes in who you have a connection with - yeah, and Dawn was a ray of sunshine in my life - it can mean a lot. But if I’m really being honest, I never really thought it would have a happy ending. I don’t know what a happy ending is. Life isn’t about endings, is it? It’s a series of moments. And um, if you turn the camera off, it’s not an ending is it? I’m still here. My life is not over. Come back here in ten years. See how I’m doing then. 'Cause I could be married with children, you don’t know. Life just goes on.”

I too feel like I have jumped the shark/nuked the fridge…

Working and training and drinking and not much else…

One does grow weary…

That is the key.

My trusty set of headphones and TFK insulate me from them for long period but sometimes you have to converse and try and be part of the “team”.

Jesus back in my graduate program days you could call to a lads desk and slap him around the head and nobody would bat an eyelid.

These new bred IT geeks would ring their therapist if such an event occurred.

Back then the only way they communicated was by talking. Now with things like internet forums they don’t need to converse with humans in person.
