American Mass Shootings / Stabbings / Car Crashes/bridge collapses

Iā€™d always be wary of a family who add or remove an e from their surname.

Iā€™ve seen a few tweets from people saying President Trump signed an executive order making it easier for people with mental health problems to buy guns. Is this true @anon7035031 ?

Pat Kelly
he was in the RA

But but butā€¦ background checks.

For a small subset of people with mental health conditions, those that are unable to manage their own finances. About 3.5 million people receive Social Security benefits in the US for mental health issues, the estimate is this rule applies to 75,000. The ACLU which is arguably the most left wing group in the US opposed this Obama rule and argued that there was no data whatsoever that these individuals had any propensity towards violence and gun violence in particular.

There are two ways of combating mass killings like this, a complete ban on assault weapons, and much stricter monitoring of those with serious mental issues, and in particular those with a violent past like this chap,to ensure they cannot get their hands on guns. Wonā€™t stop all of them as clearly guns can be procured illegally and nutters can use other means of killing (trucks, bombs, etc.).

Guns accessed illegally are much harder to get financially when guns are out-lawed , youā€™d probably pick one up for a few hundred currently? That would jump into a couple of thousand on the black market if they were illegalā€¦

If the US are happy to have a couple of shootings like this every year then fine, thereā€™s no problem here at all. Carry on as normal.

There is about as much chance of guns being outlawed in the US as my winning the powerball lottery (one in 175 million). A complete ban on guns just isnā€™t practical and impossible to implement, as first of all it would involve a constitutional amendment which would never pass. Why should law abiding citizens have to give up their right to own a gun? To allow only criminals have guns?

I would say a majority would support a ban on assault type weapons, and stricter control on who can buy a gun, which is the only practical way to go.

Why do law abiding citizens need guns? ā€¦ you space cadet

For their protection in a violent society? To hunt, which is what most law abusing people use guns for.
Again, you are advocating that only criminals should have guns, which is truly insane. The government has zero ability to keep guns out of the hands of criminals.

Iā€™m not advocating for criminals to have guns ā€¦

Protection in a violent society? Would you fuck offā€¦ If guns were illegal most likely only drug dealers could afford them to use on each otherā€¦ How many law abiding citizens are being shot at by random criminals on a daily basis? Yeah, all those gun owners are hunting advocates alrightā€¦ go way you mad cunt.

Why doinā€™t you try catching one of these with your bare hands you townie cunt.

Why? Iā€™d just go to the store and buy him skinned and choppedā€¦

You are advocating for only criminals having guns, as that is what would result from a gun ban.

There are about 4 million burglaries/home invasions in the US per year, in about 1 million of those the home owner is at home, and about a quarter of a million involve violence. The argument that law abiding citizens donā€™t need guns is irrelevant as long as the number of violent home invasions is greater than zero.

As I said, townie cunt.

Would you stop - they are robbing people, not murdering themā€¦ make guns illegal and these crims wont be able to pay blackmarket prices for guns.

statistics on gun crime in every other Western democracy show removing guns greatly reduces mass shootings

America refuses to do it so this mass shooting was only story 4 on the news this morning as I drove to work. Itā€™s becoming ā€œdog bites manā€

Go away bring facts and stats into it - Thereā€™s no place for logic here.

Can you not read? A quarter of a million home invasions involving violence.
I understand you have some experience in this area of ā€œworkā€. Would you be more or less inclined to break into someoneā€™s home is there was a good chance you would encounter a homeowner with a double barrel shotgun? How about the old people being robbed and beaten in rural Ireland, should they have the right to defend themselves?

But it doesnā€™t seem to be much of a deterrent now if there are 4 million break ins?

Can you not read? They are robbing material things not breaking in to kill people - and anyway, it doesnt appear that guns are having much success with those numbers, are they fuckface?.. and again, if guns are out lawed these guys will find it much harder to be able to get their hands on guns., The rest is just tripe from you.
