They were trying to come across as very convincing and if I was guessing they sounded like lads protecting an investment and wouldn’t be shocked to see them cash out tomorrow.
It seems to me AI is very good at things of extremely low value to humanity like stirring up hysteria against easy targets on behalf of the worst people on earth, and very bad at doing things of real value to humanity.
I’d say it’ll make an awful lot of people redundant and also not work very well for what it is supposed to do and destroy the companies who employ it, which will be every company. Every company will use AI because every other company is using AI.
I’d imagine AI will be expert at doing things like misdiagnosing medical conditions and producing fake scientific papers to back up far right weaponised conspiracy theories. And utterly shit at producing actual medical and scientific advancements which would be of immense value to humanity like enabling paralysed people to walk normally again or fixing distorted vision.
It’ll surely steadily erode general human intelligence because, like Homer Simpson said, why am I here like a fool breathing on my own when I can get a machine to breathe for me?
Basically what I’m saying is everybody will stampede over the cliff like the cattle at the end of The Field and it’ll probably lead to a worldwide recession on a scale we’ve never seen and lead to all sorts of horrific consequences like AI-OPTIMISED gas chambers where brown people and trans people and trade unionists get gassed to death by tech-fascist Nazi regimes because the AI information environment will be so good at manipulating anger away from those to blame and towards the innocent people the pig rich see as an escape valve to direct the anger onto, that that’s what’ll probabaoly happen.
I asked ChatGPT for a best Wexford hurling team since 2000 a while back & they provided a team with 11 players & it had Damien Fitzhenry outfield & the likes of Doc O’Connor in it.
