AS Roma 2012/2013

I think that is pretty explicit in its delivery. Roma are going to go through the most successful period of its history, we are going to be successful, we are to be great and we will do it in the most spectacular fashion.[/quote]
Based on?

Perfect hat trick for Cavani tonight. Right foot, left foot and header. Can someone bump the posts from Bomber from around 18 months ago where he maintained that Napoli needed to cash in on him as the goals would soon dry up.

16 for the season in Seria A

+1

To appreciate victory you must first taste defeat. Puke wouldn’t know anything about that, he doesn’t know how to savour victory because he has never been one to taste defeat. Tommy Burns thought me that there is nothing wrong with losing, sometimes it is better to lose with class than win without. But I know Mr. Zeman will win with class, I know it.

Belief in two great men.

Ah I see. That will be some corner.

Mr. Zeman called it as I saw it, as any football fan would.

Zdenek Zeman insisted he was “happy with the performance” as Roma created – and wasted – more opportunities than Napoli.

“It is a step backwards in terms of result, but the team tried to play and put the opposition under pressure,” he said of the 4-1 defeat.

“Of course goals count in football, we didn’t score them and Napoli did. I am generally happy with the performance, though.

“We defend zonally on set plays and clearly got something wrong on Edinson Cavani’s goal. We conceded there, it happens.”

Mattia Destro wasted several chances before he was replaced by Pablo Daniel Osvaldo.

“If Destro did not score, then it means he was hasty. I am satisfied with his performance too, as he put himself forward and created some opportunities. He moved well and it’s a shame he didn’t finish them off, as a striker lives for the goal. He has quality and we have faith in him.”

Roma spent the Christmas break in Florida and returned on Thursday, so some suggested they could suffer from jet lag.

“I don’t think jet lag had any influence. We created six or seven chances, more than our opponents, but we did not convert them and they did, so that is football.

“We knew Napoli played on the counter-attack and they managed it straight away with a fast move. In my view they scored some great goals and we have to applaud them.

“Cavani is very quick, certainly quicker than Burdisso and Castan, so we tried not to leave him in that one-on-one situation.”

The Giallorossi could’ve closed up on the leading pack in a weekend where Juventus, Inter and Fiorentina all lost.

“Every time we don’t win is a wasted opportunity. My team plays to win, but then mistakes are made and today we paid for the errors in front of goal. I am happy that the side tries to create and attack.

“It’s not easy to work in Rome, but we try to do our work and in my view the team never gave up. I have faith in this squad, the players believe and I hope we can all continue believing to the end.”

In Zeman I trust.

Osavaldo is out tomorrow, Pjanic suspended, Marcos and Totti are doubts and Nico Lopez is away on international duty. This leaves us looking quite light, especially in attack. Not sure if Marquinho has left for Gremio yet but I’d expect he won’t be in the squad in any case. Tallo joined Bari on loan for the rest of the season this week, so if Totti fails to make it we don’t have any natural replacement for attack, Florenzi could maybe play there but it would be a completely new position for him.

I really, really fear for us today, especially with Totti now out.

Ah that was a great chance for Dodo.

That was a bad result for us. We were missing some big players in Osvaldo, Totti and Pjanic and were lacking the creative spark the final two gave. The chances we missed were unforgivable however - we should have been four up at half time. Poor second half performance and we were punished with a rare Catania attack. Shades of the Chievo game about that one. We need some additions in this windown, Bradley was poor again. We should try and keep Marquinho and Zeman should play him more. Balzaretti also needs to be dropped. De Rossi should stay on the bench for another couple of weeks - not until he is willing to put in some effort and follow his manager’s instructions should he return to the side.

This disastrous Zeman reign can’t come to an end quick enough. That second half was embarassing - yet again absolutely no cohesion in the team from back to front. He’d managed the likes of Salernitana and Avellino to losses in Catania and now he can add Roma to that list.

We need Ancellotti and we need him now.

Ancelotti only won one Italian league title in his managerial career and he spent 10 years managing the two biggest clubs in Italy. Zeman is the man for the job. A bad result today but we were missing some key players and inexplicably missed four glorious chances from six yards out in the first half. Tactically we are fine, we just need to stop making mistakes in front of goal.

Zeman admits that Roma were “confused and chaotic”. No shit, you utter charlatan.

He is a poor man’s Arsene Wenger. No good trying to send your team out playing positive football when they can’t defend for buttons

Defence was the least of our worries today. The midfield were quite erratic and our attack lacked direction without the like of Osvaldo, Totti and Pjanic not to mention us missing four sitters in the first half. Zeman is a man with a vision and focus which is less than can be said for you - when I see you post I see a man without a country. You jump from Billy to Jack at the drop of a hat, Zeman is true to his vision and principles and I tell you when he does triumph I will destroy you.

Reports today saying we are close to 20 yr old Nancy left back Massadio Haidara who is a “powerful left back”. Don’t think we are in need of a left back to be honest, we already have Dodo and Balzaretti and Marquinho and Taddei can fill in there if needed. In saying that Balzaretti has had an awful season and Dodo deserves a run in the side now, he has looked impressive in his fleeting appearances. Right back would be much more of an issue for me, Piris has imrpoved over the course of the season but I’d still like someone who can add some competition there, he went off injured on Sunday and we now only have Taddei (or Marquinhos) to play there, wouldn’t want Marquinhos moving out to the right as he is our best defender.

In other news Totti is out of the Coppa quarter on Wednesday, we have a very light squad and are down to the bare bones.

How is the club financially Bomber? From reading the thread it seems the club need a few players in at this stage of the season & quick.

Reasonable, the Americans have managed to slash the wage bill and have invested an adequate amount of money since taking over. Our squad is quite good we just need a few additions to beef it up. A right back and regista would be welcomed in this transfer window.

It seems unusual for Italian clubs to go for Premiership players, why is this seriously? Considering the many signings English clubs of made from Italy over the years it seems strange that it doesn’t happen vice versa.

Flamini left Arsenal for AC Milan & seems to be a good player for them.

Are there any premiership players you would like to see at Roma?
