Australia 108/0 at stumps, a lead of 362. Pitch is still in good condition in terms of batting out a day and a half to save the test. Sadly, I donāt think too many of the English batsmen have the necessary mindset and discipline thatās required for that. Cook, Root and maybe Bell at a push.
I have a sort of rules/etiquette based question.
That last England wicket was taken by a substitute fielder who caught it at slip. I seemed to recall, but may have invented it myself, hearing before that when you were bringing on a substitute fielder they couldnāt be a specialist and to avoid that being the case you had to put them on the boundary or somewhere equally unimportant.
Am I making that up?
Australia might need some rain here as well.
I always thought there was a convention that you wouldnāt put a substitute in a catching position too. England took the piss in 2005 with some specialist guy that they put near the bat. Ponting was seething when he ran him out.
Gary Pratt was it? Heās only a club player.
Yeah, that was him. Think he was playing with a county at the time, but didnāt have a very long career
this test and the last ashes has really put the spotlight on whether england should be taken off the test playing nations roster.what they have done to the wicket is sickening too
England were appalling alright, but are on the right track roughly. It has been strange weather in fairness. Long hot humid days and then rain the likes of which I have rarely seen. They may have prepared wickets, but Iād say Lords of all places is above that.
One night here it was 28 degrees at midnight whilst raining chunks of ice the size of your thumb, and then rain which floods the streets in a minute or two.
The lords groundsman blames the weather in any case.
May or may not be correct.
England are far from the finished article, but are getting better. Aus should win the series, but should have to work for it.
The wicket in Cardiff produced a decisive result within 4 days and the wicket at Lordās will (unless England produce a rearguard action of Rorkeās Drift proportions) also produce a decisive result.
Your main grievance, I understand is that the curators at Cardiff and Lordās didnāt serve up the sort of dangerous concrete track you get for a wicket in Australia and is beloved of the macho Australian type. You might want to reflect on that fact that thatās the type of wicket that saw the death of Australian batsman Phillip Hughes just eight months ago.
Run along and find a topic that you know something about and donāt be troubling cricket aficionadoās with such weak and lame attempts at wumming.
says the man that has never predicted a test correctly.
your knowledge of cricket is as bad as your ability to run marathons. you actually choose a sex pest as your username

Its a sure sign Iāve demolished you yet again, this time on an Ashes cricket thread when running marathons and playing the man is all you can come back with.
Iām not sure exactly what Iāve called wrong here. I predicted England to win in Cardiff and win the series. Weāll have to wait a few more weeks to see how things pan out in respect of winning the series. This is what I had to say in advance of the Lordās test.
Winning the toss and batting first at Lordās will be crucial for both sides.
I would still be pretty confident that England will prevail over the five test series but Lordās does represent Australiaās best chance of a win.
Rogers had to retire hurt after a dizzy spell there. Didnāt look great, especially in the context of him missing the Tests in the Windies with concussion. Hopefully itās unrelated and heāll be okay for the next Test.
Smith looking great again here. Lead is 434. Iād say Clarke will pull out at around half past, give them 20 mins before lunch to bowl at them.
Thereās 165 overs left in the match and the lead is 447. In Mike Athertonās great rearguard action at Wanderers twenty years ago England batted out 165 overs to save the test - when set a target of 479 finishing on 351/5 with Atherton unbeaten on 185.
I would expect Australia to pick up the 10 wickets comfortably enough, but if lightning of that nature is to strike again, you wonāt find a better wicket to do it on.
Lightening?
Waited slightly longer than I expected, wanted the 500 lead obviously. Theyāll have two or three overs before lunch now
Lyth gone early.
when his country needed him cook shits himself
a fud
Lyth gone early.
Iād imagine Lyth is gone for Edgbaston as well. Alex Hales really should be brought in now.
Better platform than usual for Root. Comes in at 42/3.
