Can do. Not widely done however, vasectomies are risky to say the least, there is the risk of failure or recanalization which does occur.
Traditionally, males are castrated and females get ovariaohysterectomy. It had been believed that it mainly reduced neoplasia rates, which in many cases, it does. However, perversely enough, some recent research showed neutering increased the likelihood of some neoplasias.
It also increases the possibility of arthritis in the likes of retrievers or Labs, but this is likely down to the fact that they balloon up after the op.

Ref Kennels ( know we’re not the best of buddies etc) but there’s a great guy I used use back roads to kinsale,real doggy man,heated kennels - huge dog runs and AFAIK E12/14 a night,guys top class and generally booked out months ahead
