It’s over on the mainland thank God. We’d be bollixed altogether if we were subjected to an attack by flesh-eating rodents. This should be brought to the attention of our UK correspondent.

Can someone name a reputable pound or something similar to take on a dog down on its luck?

You’re still around Limerick? Contact these guys

No I’ve no time for that crowd after I went back there with a cat one time and they kind of expected me to home this fucking stray with kittens myself. Then asked for a donation for their troubles. It wasn’t my fault this cat with kittens plonked herself in my garden and couldn’t look after the kittens properly. I felt after that I should have left them rot such was the response I got. I also don’t appreciate the fake news they’ve written about treatment of greyhounds on their website.

Anyone with any other shelters to mention?

You got that off your chest anyway :grinning:

LAW is an outstanding group,
Those cats you brought in were fucked and you were the only chance they had

I got Bobby in Offaly SPCA in Tullamore. They were very nice to deal with.

Would you not rehome a greyhound? They are supposed to make a noble pet

They are no good to bark. You want something that will at least bark when a fella comes over the wall into the yard at 3am, not wag it’s tall at him which is what a greyhound would do. Very trusting animals.

There’s one just outside Oola, as far as I know. A fork off to the right over the railway just as you enter the village from the Limerick side.

There’s greyhounds in most villages in Limerick. I’d say if anyone wanted to home one there would be a thousand a year or more that fellas are trying to re-home that have retired. A lot of them go to Italy and Czech Republic.

Yeah, I meant a pound that would rehome any dog, not just greyhounds. A brother of mine got a terrier there a while back and they take dogs in too, as far as I know.

I had a similar bad experience with a crowd outside Thurles.

Made contact to get the ball rolling via their Facebook page.
They wanted a fucking property layout and asked why my old man needed another dog?

I explained he lived alone & his pet had died recently and that in truth whatever dog he would get next would be treated like a king.

They promised to organise a site visit after dropping the €250 charge for taking the animal if they deemed my old man & his site good enough.
Never heard a peep back after that.

I hit them up a month later to express my displeasure but alas that didn’t get them into shape.

Tis no wonder people are going down the Donedeal route.

Lock it down ta fuck
