you can’t go wrong with a well bred dog, I wouldn’t be too keen on the oodley doodley crosses myself.
It’s about 80% down to the owner… One of the dogs on your list there, the pit bull, by it’s nature would protect it’s own family to the last and is apparently fantastic with its own family kids, but it’s got a big mouth
My old fella had a jack Russell for 12 years there and he has a house cat as well. Both lived in the house… They wouldnt even look at each other from one end of the week to the other. The dog used get out and about a lot himself and the old lad were tied at the hip but the cat was never left out because he would go on the run.
The cat never went next or near my kids or the old fella just sloped around the house doing fuck all. The dog died there a few weeks ago and since he did the cat spends all day long crawling over the father for petting. He was just waiting in the long grass for a decade for his go
I’d have nothing against cats but I wouldn’t have one as a pet. My mother has one and you can’t make a cup of tea without the little prick tripping you up looking for food
Plenty. Most of the sporting breeds (e.g. Setters, Spaniels), Terriers, and then some non-sporting breeds like Bichon Frise or a toy breed like the Affenpinscher. A lot boils down to the owner. You can take two practically identical pups from the same litter and put them in separate homes - one could be an obedient pup that knows its place, and the other could be a little cunt that ends up biting a child. Most behavioural problems in a dog are caused by the owner. Pack structure needs to be developed and boundaries need to be set when the puppy is young. Training obedience regularly will make for an easier life as the pup gets older. Simple things can help. Don’t let the puppy sit on a higher plane than you. Feed the puppy after the family is fed. Keep the puppy off the furniture and out of bedrooms. Make the puppy sit before feeding. Enter and exit the park, the house, etc. before the puppy…
@EstebanSexface nailed it earlier regarding the two breeds you have mixed - they are not great. Poodles, like a lot of very intelligent breeds (e.g. Collies) can be dangerous. Akitas, it goes without saying, are a dangerous breed. That mix will take serious work once the pup gets older.
