interesting NCC
is that an average from the top leages only over a season on a weekly basis?
Turley are ommited from that.
the figure of 2k for ireland is difficult to realise
take this weekend best case

rovers / drogs - 3.5k
galway / RAF - 1k
UCD / sligo - 500
dk / fingal - 800
pats / bray - 1000

total ~6.8 k so say 7k.

thats average 1.7k… give or take i suppose

yeah - it seems a bit high- here are attendances from fool.ie

Bohs - 1,800 (2009 - 2,366; 2008 - 1,993; 2007 - 1,924; 2006 - 1,463; 2005 - 1,976) (missing Sligo 2)
Bray - 831 (1,169; 1,106; 1,200; 1,027; 1,550)
Drogheda - 895 (1,106; 1,631; 1,919; 1,751; 1,682)
Dundalk - 1,908 (2,371; 1,459 FD; 1,406 FD; 1,078 FD; 474 FD)
Galway - 856 (1,076; 1,393; 2,199; 1,148 FD; 566 FD)
Pat’s - 1,801 (1,631; 1,795; 1,910; 1,342; 1,599)
Rovers - 3,803 (3,611; 1,468; 1,715; 1,089 FD; 1,539) (missing Fingal 2)
Sligo - 1,749 (1,756; 1,960; 1,448; 1,806; 1,794 FD)
Sporting Fingal - 913 (635 FD; 688 FD)
UCD - 614 (272 FD; 546; 663; 546; 653; 306 FD)

either way the fundamental point is it proves how the LOI can attract consistent attendances unlike the event junkies that follow the GGA twice a year.
that is the main point here

will be interesting to see the cup final attendance- would be good if we had the LOI equivalent of the GGA event junkee

€10 a ticket is great value

Dundalk as second highest. Bit surprising.

Diabolical figures in truth. How are UCD financed?

Impressive from Scotland who probably have the highest attendance per UEFA coefficient and per population.

Surprised at Portugal in 10th given the relative success of their clubs and the fact they have 3 or 4 clubs of a CL standard (Sporting, Porto, Benfica, Braga). They spend a bit of money too but they’ve always been successful at generating transfer revenue.

Greece is shit as expected, very surprised with Croatia.

FFS
if you were ever at a foootball match in this country you would know that Dundalk are one of the best supported teams in the league.
People do go to matches you know, but this concept is probably a bit alien to a sky sports news merchant like yourself.
UCD are a university if you didnt know and most of their players would be amateur, they would be financed the same way as the college finances its AIL rugby team or Sigerson team who NCC played against when he was studying Maynooth.

I was at a foootball match in Ireland but not Israel - never realised Dundalk were one of the best supported teams

fuck all people go to matches. Id say the gaelic football final in a joke of a football county like clare between two villages got more of an attendance that the majority of LOI games. If they attempted to play the game properly instead of gaelic without hands more people would watch.

I dont think the UCD team is made up of students like NCC’s priest ridden Maynooth GGA team. Be a sad state of affairs if taxpayers money was funding a UCD soccer team - most of their players are amateur

Agree with Mickee here, Dundalk is a big football town, they follow “The Town” through thick and thin. Had the pleasure of watching a game up there years ago, the Shed is good craic in fairness

they are thugs in dundalk

2000 higher than most league games & a lot of championship games

They’d hold their own in a scrap if it was put up to them

Pretty impressive figures from Scotland and also Switzerland to a lesser extent. Thought England would be closer to Germany and I can only see their attendances going down if the standard of EPL continue to deteriorate while gap between winners and mid table teams gets even bigger. Same story with most leagues but quality in some leagues like Russian league has gotten better over last year or two so will be interesting to see if this is reflected in attendances.
