Decent half but plenty of room for improvement.
Generally looked comfortable enough at the back. Very flat footed for the Arnautovic chance but otherwise weāve been solid. Duffy a bit unlucky to pick up the booking but he just needs to keep his hands a bit clearer. Coleman getting on to the ref at half time at least anyway, heās been a joke.
Midfield have been quiet but theyāre not exactly dominating there either. We seem to be playing Arter more centrally now - whatever bit of possession we had seemed to disappear when Whelan went off - Meyler isnāt going to get on the ball nearly as much. Walters finished the half on the left wing with McClean up front but I assume theyāll switch back.
Weāve been busy going forward without being great. McClean has worked hard, Walters has tried his best but heās not particularly athletic anymore and he should have buried that chance. One lovely touch from Wes to set Robbie free which weāll hear loads about but heās been terribly wasteful. We lack options so wouldnāt really argue for him coming off but he has to be much better at looking after the ball and at picking better options - rather than trying to beat his man every time.
I still think we should have Brady further forward. Heās too good to be left back and weāre doing him no favours in moving him around all the time. But presumably weāve prepared all week with him at left back so wouldnāt change it now.
