It’s a yes for me.
Look at the way Bale has carried an average Wales side to being ranked the 9th best team in the world to Messi consistently filling out his togs with his excrement when tasked with getting a star studded team over the line.

We’ll have to wait and see how they perform in the finals.
Messi has often got Argentina there in much more difficult qualifying groups.
Messi consistently underperforms for his country and lets the lesser players lead the charge.
Bale has carried a footballing minnow on his back in this qualifying campaign. Their reliance of him is huge and I am a Bale convert, he’s the greatest player Britain has ever produced.
Calm down buddy.
Messi hasn’t been up to much in the Final Stages of a tournament and I was just saying we’ll have to see how Bale goes in the finals.
He’s been class for Argentina in qualifying but average in general in the finals.
Messi plays for Argentina.
Bale plays for Wales.
Correct.
Yes for me too. Bale by his own admission didn’t play well last night but still should have had a brilliant assist for the disallowed goal and then popped up with that bullet header. He’s scored or assisted in all but 1 of their qualifying group goals. While Messi hides, Bale seeks. His header last night with the hanging leap and the way his physique shrugged his opponent aside midair reminded me of Cristiano Ronaldo. Speaking of which, Ronaldo is still a fair bit better than Bale and streets ahead of Messi.
But according to @Nembo_Kid it’s down to their performance internationally. On that basis has Ronaldo performed any better than Messi at major tournament finals?
I have to point out that I don’t feel strongly either way I’m just interested in the reasoning.
What Bale has achieved with Wales in this qualifying campaign is remarkable, a huge achievement. There’s not many comparatives to it in recent times, Zlatan with Sweden would be an obvious one.
The way he has led his team speaks a lot about his character, no ego or tantrums, just honest hard work and humility. He’s a smashing lad.
Messi relies heavily on having every single parameter skewed in his favour, when it’s not - the mask slips.
He’s an egomaniac and he’s a fraud.
Ok, can you take your strong emotion out of it and show how he > relies heavily on having every single parameter skewed in his favour
Take his performances at Barcelona to Argentina, take him out of his comfort zone and he’s incomparable. The Messi for Argentina is a pale shadow of that for Barcelona, numerous managers have tried to move heaven and earth for Messi to create the right environment and he has failed to shine. He upsets the team dynamic of Agentina and if they want to win the big ones, they have to find a manager with the balls big enough to drop Messi.
Why does a guy who breaks all scoring records at club level fail so spectacularly at high level international football?
Signing in
Oh dear someone appears to have gotten quite a bit of sand in their vagina this morning.
He’s 10 behind Batistuta in Argentina’s all time goalscoring records (and he’s only 28) , has scored the most for them in World Cup qualification.
Qualification?
Argentina are expected to qualify comfortably for every World Cup. They are a footballing super power, they have a star studded squad and they have a guy who is mean to be the greatest player in the world who ends up shitting his pants when the stakes get higher.
Bale on the other hand, takes responsibility and leads his team like a player of his standing should. He lives up to his reputation and I will admit to being very dubious on him before but he’s changed my mind, I’m now a Baleiever.
He single handedly got them to a world cup final only just over 12 months ago mate.
Bale is better than Messi, whose performances in qualifying matches doesn’t count, based on his performances in qualifying matches.
Oh did he now?
And hear was me thinking Argentina were non-existent in an attacking sense in the knockout stages of the 2014 World Cup. What was it? 2 goals in 450 minutes of knockout football. Messi is a shitbag, he proved it again in the Copa America this summer, when the going gets tough, Messi goes hiding.
Who the fuck cares about international football? It is all about club football nothing else matters. Look at Gotze won a world cup a year ago and he is nobody already.
