There has been increased anti semitic incidents in Ireland (@glasagusban questions the word of this minority on this). Why would they be happy that the Israeli embassy would be closed?
The IT reported this attack but little outside it. The usual suspects would be all over it if it was a different minority of course.
No I’ve said very little on it. I don’t agree with their actions there.
I also don’t agree with dismissing the clear anti semitism going on in Ireland (and note this isn’t anti Israel stuff as both Israelis and the hand waivers away of anti semitism here like to classify it as).
Israel is the biggest danger to Jews on earth. Israel snd the Israel lobby knows precisely what it is doing, which is to grossly exaggerate the level of antri-Semitism for political purposes so they can get away with genocide, and to deliberately and cynically tie Judaism as whole explicitly to genocide.
They’re not only the biggest danger to Jews but to the rest of the world, at least along with Russia.
I think it should be noted with regards to Orli Degani mentioned above, she was given the boot by the Soc Dems for expressing concerns on the nature of some of the attitudes on Palestine and Israel exhibited. As she was a Jewish Israeli, she was low hanging fruit. Meanwhile that white Irish male Eoin Hayes sailed through their various background checks, mostly because he was saying all the right things on social media with regards to Israel.
All the right things being… anti genocide perhaps? And when they discovered his links and share dealings they suspended him. So a fairly consistent position? Your problem seems to be that they are taking an anti israeli stance at all? Surely a party can take whatever stances they like and let people vote for them. Sure we’ve anti everyone foreign parties who got votes.
You dont leave the house much though… i used to live with an israeli/american woman in london for a while and she was sexy as fuck. It possibly coloured my judgement…
I got talking to an American Jew in a pub in Prague just as the first match of the 2014 World Cup between Brazil and Croatia was kicking off and at one stage he told me he’d been to Israel as a sort of pilgrimage but I didn’t pursue that area of conversation. We ended up mostly talking about football and other areas of life and ended up going to a nightclub on a boat in the river.
She objected to the use of the Palestinian flag and to the party’s stance on Israel/Palestine. Opposition to party policy is an appropriate reason to deselect a candidate. Except for @Tim_Riggins.
Her Twitter activity has thoroughly proved the Social Democrats correct about her. #
Ranting that people standing up to fascist football hooliganism is a “pogrom”.
The essential ridiculousness of Zionists is never more than a social media post away.
The entire “intellectual” underpinning of pro-Israel sympathy has completely disappeared in the last 14 months - not thast it ever really existed anyway, but the mask has come well and truly off. The entire movement is now just shameless genoicide apoloigism.
The narrative now is: why should anybody care about anything that happens to anybody else, ever?
