The Irish are gone an awful size nowadays.
I noticed in the music section of boards hardly any postings anymore. People have moved on to other things like reddit etc?
That might be a question for boards.ie
Back in the early 2000s, I used to go on Thumped a fair bit for music talk. I’d say nobody goes there anymore. Social media etc. probably put an end to it.
The farming section is pretty active and useful.
There’s a great tradition on TFK of posting questions and replies to other boards here
I can’t open boards on safari on my phone for months now. Gary must be at the wheel there
Jesus don’t let Appleceumbled see that
What age demographic or type of poster uses boards these days? I’m gone off it years. The hipsters definitely aren’t on it as someone started a Fontaines DC thread on the music section ages ago which got no comments.
I imagine those types have moved over to Reddit. But the After Hours etc forum still seems busy enough.
Going by some of the threads I get the feeling it’s youngsters arsing around on it.
It’s hard to start a thread on anything without it getting invaded by a bunch of right wing goons trying to turn it into an anti-immigration arguement. It’s toxic, nowhere near twitter level toxic, but it’s weird that they do it. They’ve lost a lot of traffic to reddit.
Some of the forums, there’s no point posting on them anymore.
Half of the posts on boards are telling people they are in the wrong thread, or the thread is too old. Or their post is against the rules. Or that question is covered in one of our pinned threads. It’s like they want to stop people posting. Moderators are by and large power tripping cunts unlike the moderator team on here who I have huge respect for.
They’ve definitely lost the run of themselves. I wonder have any of them tried to use it as a chat-up line in a pub, that’s if they ever leave their bedrooms.
Mods put me off. Was banned a few times.
There’s a lad or lady called peregrinus who is a brilliant poster on whatever topic though who’s worth staying to read. Farming and weather also.
We’d a lad applying for an intern gig in my old job put “Boards.ie Moderator” down under hobbies. It was for something boring like American Football and unfortunately he didn’t make the cut.
The weather board was interesting when we had a few big freezes and the snow half a dozen years ago.
I contributed on a couple of special interest boards which have pretty much frozen up in the past few years. Don’t know when I last looked in…
It’s dead.
