If indicating striking should not then automatically be a red card
Would agree with opinions that Lane could not be expected to have seen the incident

This was some team. Managed by the bould Val Andrews.
A great team, plenty of lads who had fine careers. Incidentally, Jim McGuinness, who was 26 at this stage captained UUJ to Sigerson glory on 2001.
Jim might have been studying molecular science or something a level above woodwork in those years but he gave a fair spell at school…

I always enjoyed Val Andrews. I remember him telling a story of his time with Cavan back around the early noughties. He invited 50 players to the first session. Had a big meeting with them and extolled the virtues of players doing kicking practice on their own. He presented them all with a new O Neills football each so they could practice on their own. He never saw 15 of the players or their footballs again.
