Let them hear the Bohs war cry
By Denis Maher
Bohemians travel to the cauldron that is the Brandywell on Tuesday to take on Derry City in their own backyard. At stake, the League Cup and a potential Setanta Cup place.
But that cauldron is set to bubble with more than a Derry air, because we have added a large Gypsy ingredient into the mix.
The red and black army has mobilised a battalion of 500, thanks to the success of the club bus initiative carrying some 270 fans, with many more making the journey by car, independent bus and also by air.
The bus initiative shows that people will respond if something is well organised, and major thanks should go to those involved but thanks also to the travelling army who have made all the hard work worthwhile.
In terms of numbers, Sen Connor’s men will be the best-supported Bohs team ever at the Brandywell.
But it’s never about numbers.
Each and every supporter can play a part by creating an atmosphere and level of support unprecedented for an away club in Derry. If you have colours, jerseys, scarves, flags, etc, bring them. Thanks to the generosity of a long-standing member of BFC, the Club has organised a red and black flag for every travelling supporter - use them.
If you are hoarse by the end of the 90 (or 120 minutes), you know you have done your job.
Our first opportunity will be as the teams take the field. We will be at the tunnel end of the ground and we will be the first sight that greets the players as they enter the arena.Start as we mean to go one - a big welcome will set the tone for the support all night.
Let’s be seen and heard and let everybody remember the night Bohemian FC came to Derry for the League Cup Final. We are the twelfth man - let’s play the game of our lives.
