Bookmakers and general Money Laundering on the Dark Web

Will you be taking out a pitch at Clonmel next year, SS**? I see one advertised in the sporting press recently…

I don’t need a pitch and a hod, if someone wants to get on with me they have my number Dunph.

Dear Mac,

We wish to inform you that we will be changing the way we administer Special Offers to your sports betting account. As you are aware, Boylesports.com provides extra value for its customers through regular promotional offers such as Cashback Specials, Best Price Guaranteed and Free Bets.
After a review of your account we have decided that it will no longer benefit from these and other gestures classified as ‘special offers’. Accordingly, we must inform you that this change is effective from 10th September 2011.

If you have any questions regarding this new policy, please contact our 24/7 customer service team.
Kind Regards,

Your Boylesports Team

Thinly veiled “these special offers only apply to mug punters”.

Well done Mac.

Well done Mac, you must be doing something right

I have a £50 free bet with Badblokes to use by tonight. Can’t quite figure out what to put it on but i will be backing Kerry at some point to beat the Dubs in the All-Ireland and Badblokes are best priced 8/11. Should i just put it on this or is it a waste using it on an odds on shot? Can’t help but think i should plump for more of an outsider…

Why not just back Dublin seeing they’re going to win it?

Strongly considering putting the loot on Real Madrid to win the Champions League at generous odds of 5/1, unless i am advised differently in the next few hours this will be my course of action…

Dinny Gould packed up and went home half way during racing yesterday in Listowel.

I am not sure of the reasons.

He did the same in Limerick at the dogs the last night. I don’t think he likes getting wet, or else he has only paid half his pitch fees…

Presume you’re not getting the £50 stake returned so backing an odds on shot is not much use.

I wouldn’t back Real Madrid either for what it’s worth. Look at the Ante Post horse market and pick something long - say Time for Rupert for the Gold Cup at 14s or Hidden Cyclone for the RSA Chase at 16s.

Yeah the stake isn’t refunded, so no point in backing shorties. Not a bad idea regarding the antepost horses, i might ask FP for his advice after looking at the lists myself first. Though with the Real Madrid bet i am guaranteed a fairly good run for my money, i don’t like betting on horses antepost as a rule as you might not get a run…

I presume it’s only for a single bet as well?

Yes. They’ve plenty of terms and conditions entered in the fuckers.

Put it on Dew Reward in the 5.10 at Kempton. Forget that long term stuff, it’s a free bet don’t be a tight arse.

Lee Dixon just text me there on behalf of Betfair.

What’s the story with taxing online bets that seems to be coming in?
Only heard it in passing on the news there.

Presume it’s a follow on to what was discussed here a good few months ago. Taxing any operators taking bets from Irish punters. Hard to enforce as it’s reliant on the bookmakers to be honest with their figures and those who have a small base of Irish customers e.g. someone like Coral, Betfred or Skybet will probably start to move away from enticing Irish customers as the tax will be prohibitive. At the moment the only tax income would come if the online operators are licensed in Ireland but Powers and Boyles hold licences for their online businesses from places like Guernsey and the Isle of Man to avoid paying tax on income or profit.

Edit - another thing which will add to the complexity is if the tax will be based off income or profit. Either way, it looks like it’ll force the operators to segregate their Irish customers into a different category. Will be interested to see what they propose when the information is released.
