Xi continues his purge of the PLA’s top brass. This is actually extraordinary. Zhang Youxia is (was) the most senior military commander. An actual combat veteran (well, combat is stretching it. He was involved in 1979 when they decided to attack Vietnam and got the shit kicked out of them), but his family is communist aristocracy, much like Xi, who he has known since childhood.
There are now two members of the Central Military Commission, Xi and his head of army discipline. Another step closer to the invasion of Taiwan, which I reckon should happen around July.
