When Scruff Thornley has toured 5 times with the British Lions, picked up 17 caps and captained a team of ‘Invincibles’, his thoughts on British Lions squad selection might carry some weight.
I’m presuming this is about all the southern hemisphere players getting selected? Willie John is spot on there. The residency rule in international rugby needs to scrapped outright.

Major sporting events such as the Charity Shield, the Ashes, the Ryder Cup and the British Lions Test series are sometimes destined to not have a winner. This is the way it should be and the way it must remain. Sporting integrity is paramount. The tied series of 2017 was infinitely more satisfying than a cheap, tacky drop goal contest held in the name of “entertainment”.
