British Loins Tour to Australia 2025 - Will they be let in?

Anything to be said for them getting an close up look at the best of some of the opposition players, trying out new things, bringing some ideas back stuff like that? Realistically how much would get done for Ireland in the time they’re away? Even stepping away and seeing Ireland having gotten a bit of a hiding and coming back with fresh eyes on it?

The 100/1 on any non-financial services or insurance company sponsoring the British Lions in 2021 amazingly came in, with Vodafone being the shirt sponsor on that occasion.

It did not come in in 2025.

I’d have loved if Scottish Widows had got the gig to be honest.

Maybe. But 4 of coaches are in the Irish system and one of the others has less than 2 seasons coaching experience :person_shrugging:

Four of the ones left behind or the ones going? Either way does it not increase their experience?

4 of coaches going are in the Irish system already. So not sure there is a huge learning opportunity from other coaches

4 coaches learning off each other playing the same teams they play with Ireland and sharing their knowledge with the other players in the 6N

These fuckers will never learn :joy::joy::joy::joy:

Not learning off other coaches but off a different group of players and off trying out different things with a different squad of players.

We beat the other Lions teams in the 6 Nations though. It’s the inner sanctuary of France, New Zealand and South Africa we need to be raiding for 2027.

England have a rotten attack for the players they have and their attack coach gets named.

Farrell must think the Australians will roll over easily.

It was a good year for him to duck out reputation wise the way it has gone.

He had to pick an English lad I’d say is the only reason. Usually some thick neck front row coach is the English lad you’d bring.

Chicken and egg surely…maybe the year turned out far worse because he ducked out

Id say easterby was far less likely to experiment with selection than Farrell would have been

I take the piss, I agree with you. And no way should O’Connell be left over the Irish summer squad.

It is the most wonderous time of every 4 years. @gilgamboa had a bit of a point though. Can we really be plundering national coaching teams like this?

Carwyn James never coached the Wales national team. Things didn’t work out too badly for the British Lions with Carwyn at the helm.

Goodman fails upwards. Again.

I see some newswires reporting Craig Casey could be a “bolter”
As a player to be clear

He’s certainly served his time.

Schmidt will be driven demented by Johnny on the sideline. Advantage British Lions
