British Loins Tour to New Zealand 2017 - Official Thread

This is what Freud referred to as manifest content

Inspirational

I believe I was subconsciously influenced by watching the second test in 1993 last night on YouTube. Gavin Hastings was kicking for us. Then when I’d finished that I watched some of a pre-tour round table discussion presented by Alex Payne in association with Standard Life Investments in which Gavin Hastings was one of the panellists, with Paul O’Connell. Shane Williams and Martin Johnson. Johnno talked about how Hamish something or other, a backrow forward, had been Scotland’s best player in the Six Nations. In my dream the Scotch out-half alternating with Keatley was named Hamish. I can’t confirm if his surname was MacHaggishead.

Then when I’d finished watching that discussion I watched “Chasing the Loins” with Hector.

I hate Hector but the programme was very good.

Wonderful to see Sir Ian back on the panel.

Sir Ian is one of nature’s gentlemen.

Rory Best pitchside too. Besty has been very unlucky on this tour but he’s still had a great tour. The very epitome of what a great Loin is. The success of a Loins tour depends on people like Besty who don’t make the test squad but push them and encourage them every step of the way. One for all, and all for all. A successful Loins tour is a model for what a successful socialist society should be. Broadcast by Sky.

That’s what Freud calls the latent content

I was thinking about what our home guard of supporters all over the British Isles are doing right now.

@Tassotti wiping the sleep from his eyes and the snot from his nose as he charges up in a cubicle in the jacks in Ganley’s before getting the first pint in.

@myboyblue placing the little one in the television room to witness this occasion, bottle feeding, and forgetting to put his wheelie bin out.

@gilgamboa tidying up the Grey’s Anatomy DVDs into their box while waiting for the kettle to boil and listening to Michael Corcoran’s 8:05 update on RTE Radio 1.

@Tim_Riggins driving back from the shop with the 2 litre bottle of milk and the Daily Telegraph.

@Mac checking the over/under points total spread on Betfair.

And in New Zealand, front liner @GeoffreyBoycott inside Eden Park and taking a picture of his ticket and his match programme (already marked with interesting trivia notes from his pen) both for posterity and for the purposes of this forum.

I think Scottys been at the powder early doors

Is he on the cunt list? Needs to be added asap

Inspirational.

As is this montage with Geech’s speech from 1997 played over it.

He’s a harmless misfortune. SKY have an awful eejit made out of him but he is one of the good guys.

Gatland’s never been afraid of the tough decisions but I think naming an unchanged team might be a mistake. How can you say that after last week’s heroics, you say? Well, it’s been such an abrasive* series that I think that freshness and impact would have been the better and braver call to make despite everybody last week being wonderful. I would have started Lawes and Stander.

*nice rugby football word.

The streets of Dublin 8 are deserted.
Everyone watching the Lions

Welcome to the game, Beauden.

I closed my eyes when Jordie Barrett passed to him and missed Savea dropping it.
