The 1977 British Lions tour was the last of the really long tours. After 1977, the itinerary was cut from 26 games to 18 for the 1980 tour to South Africa. 1977 was one of the wettest winters of the 20th century in New Zealand. It literally rained non-stop from start to finish of the three month tour.
Invercargill is such a shit hole that I believe we went to the cinema when we were there, but in general the south Island is far superior in all ways to the north, Dunedin was my favourite city and Queens town is a great spot in spite of its comparative commercialism.
The Swan pub on Aungier Street is a gem . 30 April to 16 August is some time away .
The call to represent Britain was too strong
It’s appalling really isnt it…bad enough they refuse to sing our national anthem half the time.
Especially back then when it was clearly Britain they represented.
A Celtic fan slating a man for playing for a British team ! The man wanted to play sport at a high level that’s all. Live with it .
Nope mate. He represented Britain. He didn’t play for a British team. Huge difference
None in my eyes : Celtic wore a poppy , their managers , players and chairman got queens awards , first British team to win European cup and stadium was used for the fucking empire games . I don’t think any less of Irishmen that play for Celtic , it’s just sport at the end of the day .
Celtic are a club in Britain . The players play for Celtic.
The rogbee twats represented Britain
What don’t you get
The played for the Lions . A representative teams of 4 unions. That’s it , it is simple really .
Nonsense. The name was the British lions until quite recently
He represented the British Lions, not Britain. Huge difference.
Deary me. You are backtracking on your West Britishness to score points against me purely because i follow Chelsea
Whatever they’re called…they’ll be ate alive by NZ.
O’Driscolls cockiness was addressed in the last tour.
The island of Ireland is the second largest of the islands that makes up the British Isles. Great Britain is the largest island in the British Isles. If you’re from Great Britain or Ireland or indeed any of the smaller islands (like the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands) that make up the British Isles, you are British.
I don’t know what you mean by West Britishness I was born and at various stages lived in North London, which is the south east of England and indeed Great Britain.
No such place as the British isles.
Your whole outlook on life has been built on a misconception.
Sorry to be the one who breaks it to you
The British Isles is the archipelago of which the island of Ireland is part of. You need to brush up on your geography.
It’s the north Atlanta archapelegio now bro. Thinks have changed since you went to school
Keep up
I don’t get what you mean by Britain? There’s no such place. Do you mean Great Britain? If you are referring to Great Britain, you would appear to be confusing rugby union and rugby league. There was a long standing Great Britain rugby league team, but no Great Britain rugby union side.
