Tullow Tank.
Left hand on top …
Well after finals day in England and for Pro12 yesterday an update on winners and losers.
Losers
Murray, Stander & O Mahony. All three were outplayed and looked jaded. CJ the biggest concern of three. I’m not convinced his ankle injury has cleared up and he has had a monstrous workload this season. Could do with a summer off not what looks like being a seriously heavy duty tour.
Haskell- thought he looked off the pace for wasps yesterday. Looked gassed early on but plugged away tbf but for little impact. Barely international standard at his best and his selection is a head scratcher.
Winners
Jack Nowell- huge impact for the man @gilgamboa put up as his lions bolter a few months back. Scored a super try and worked his socks off. Showed valuable versatility to slot in at full back for a long spell. Could have played his way into the test team.
Elliot Daly was also very impressive on the wing for Wasps. Looks to be in strong form just at the right time. Scored a good try.
Johanathon Davies and Liam Williams both excelled for the Scarlets and are strong test team contenders… star of the show for me though was the uncapped James ‘cubby boi’ Davies, younger brother of Jon. This lad was excellent at the Olympic 7s and he has carried this form through and peaked at the business end of the season. He has played two Irish back rows off the pitch on successive weekends. He is a bit of a headcase though and must be some reason he wasnt even picked for the Welsh summer tour. He would be the first player I’d add to the Lions squad when the inevitable injuries come. Mobile, aggressive with excellent handling skills he could be just what’s needed to take on the kiwis.
This’d bring a tear to anyones eye
Savage tribute to Celtics Scottish cup win
Haskell played in New Zealand for a while didn’t he?
and Galway’s win .
Yeah. He played for Stade Francais for a few years and they let him go so he went to Japan and cashed in for a while and while there managed to get a gig with the Highlanders for a short spell. Don’t know did he even play a full season with them.
He is an excellent pro. Always in supreme condition and works his bollocks off. Just not sure he’s all that good a player really.
Surely this gesture will go a long way to assuage the negative attitudes of pretend Republicans like the selfish giant ?. The Lions singing the FOA will build bridges with those who feel the Irish element of the Lions has been undersold over the years .
John Reason, the incomparable former Daily Telegraph rugby correspondent - ‘The Incomparable Lions’ is the only book you need to read on the 1971 tour. Unlike Tom English, John Reason was on tour in 1971.
they were known as the British lions until quite recently
At least 5 will die out there.
They’re not flying on Malaysian Airlines, thankfully, although I’m not particularly happy with them flying on Qantas either, to tell the truth.
British Airways should always be official British Loins carrier.
Its gonna be a massacre.
How twee the way New Zealander’s insist on doing that ridiculous war dance at the drop of a hat for every occasion.
The logistics of getting the Lions around is a tough one. Not as thought as way back when though, 3 week ferries and trains.
