I was very underwhelmed by the cities in NZ. Christchurch was far and away the best of them and that’s only really a big town
You won’t go
He’ll get a stomach bug in departures
Wellington is a nice city. Agree on Christchurch. Auckland is just a big lifeless sprawl. Dunedin is the big university city in New Zealand. Found it a bit of a dump as well.
Huge game tomorrow. We need to lay down a marker
Would agree on Wellington. Christchurch is still a shell of a town, they are building it up to fall back down again. The others are all soulless.
23 coffins ordered in daffys today
I’d love to see us challenge the Haka with a ceremonial laying down of a marker. A big permanent red one like this.
Seems like Gatland is going to call up 6 players. 2 Scots and 4 Welsh players. Fin Russel and Gareth Davies are 2 who were probably in the discussion originally. None of the other 4 would have been even mentioned in passing on any lions selection. There pri.ary attractiveness is that Wales are in Auckland and Scitland in oz. Absolute joke of a tour and that fat kiwi prick has made an even bigger laughing stock of it now.
Hopefully this is a big nail in the coffin for the concept
Not the exact way it happened, but I did predict something like this.
In fairness, he is calling them up for the midweek games only. I think they are as good as anyone in the Irish side, and are also fit enough and focused.
I hope the lions first xv won’t be that far off new Zealand.
Garlands made a decent enough fist of a tour too far until now. Beat the big side, and could/should have won the other games. I’mspeaking from a position where I expected the lions to lose all their games though, and would be delighted with a competitive test series, even if it’s 3-0, which I’d still bet the house on, unless nz throw the last game to keep the money juggernaut on track. Can’t see that they will though or how they could.
The tour was lost when they agreed the schedule. Gatlands only blame on that front is any input he might have had into agreeing it, which I assume is limited.
It’s just simply not true to say though that the lads called up are as good as their Irish (or English) coubterparts. Russel and Davies are tbf, as I said earlier. But with all due respect I am not sure you would have much knowledge of the career of Kristian Dacey or cory hill to make a judgement as to their place in the pecking order for this squad. Or ther merits vs irish or english players. Two average players with average clubs on a an interbational development tour. Fully accept they are gonna play little or no part in the tour but what happens if he gets 3 or 4 injuries today then they are potentially in the mix.
Have one look at Twitter to see the absolute hammering gatland is getting from all corners for this. From all countries involved.
Anyways as I said this is likely one step closer to the end for the Lions. Gatland doesn’t give a fuck either way. He’s going back to Wales and back yo these lads in a months time anyhow
You were right about all except logistical difficulty. All 4 countries are in the southern hemisphere.
Even better Gatland just said these lads are being sent home after the hurricanes game so not even getting to hang around for the last two tests
The lions consist of teams from 2 countries. One is currently in the southern hemisphere and one in the northern
Two years?
Until the 1970s this resulted in discrimination against Māori players, since the apartheid political system in South Africa for most of the twentieth century did not allow people of different races to play sport together, and therefore South African officials requested that Māori players not be included in sides which toured their country. Despite some of New Zealand’s best players being Māori, this was agreed to, and Māori were excluded from tours of South Africa, including the Māori All Blacks.
Fella waving a Hurley here. It’s like an Unbelievables sketch.
Will this need many more edits for it to either make sense or be amusing?
Japan is in the northern hemisphere mate
