We had poor seasons (3/5) in 2005, (1/5) in 2013 and (3/5) in 2017 in the lead up to quite a few recent Lions tours. Surely the likes of Ringrose, Henshaw, Leavy and possibly Johnny Sexton worth consideration for inclusion too though.
Sexton is barely pro 12 level anymore. He could genuinely get killed on a lions tour at his age.
It’s such a shame and break with tradition that there aren’t test matches at Newlands and Loftus Versfeld.

Possibly, there’s not too many outstanding candidate there. Farrell’s performance levels have dipped considerably since the World Cup though.
His club situation can not be helping ??
Had there been a Lions tour in 2018 we’d have had a huge number in the squad/panel/roster. We’ve declined in the meantime.
Judging by his autobiography Sean O’ Brien is still hopeful of selection.
We had a load in 2009 when we won the grand slam and Leinster won their first HEC. Quinlan dropped for gouging, Flannery injured then ROG gave away the decisive penalty in the second test.

Yeah we timed that one well. The likes of Jamie Heaslip, Rob Kearney and Luke Fitzgerald were bolters in 2009.
Balcony Bob had a game for the ages in the second test. Some physicality in that game. Concussed fellas running around tackling with their faces
