I don’t get your love for Aki and derision for Stander. Aki is grand, Stander is a better player in general. Stander is an Irish citizen too (perhaps Aki is as well actually, I don’t know). While I dislike the project player system I think that Stander has contributed a lot for Ireland and is generally admirable.
I dont think either should have played for Ireland. This is about the lions, which is a different discussion. You’re a nawful strawmanner. One of the biggest culprits on the internet in fact.
I think because I watched Ali a lot when he first came over and helped transform Connacht rugby under pat lam. At that time he was being touted by Sean Fitzgerald as an all black centre. He was dynamite. Ive never thought stander does much that an Irish lad can’t
I like Aki too and he’s been class for Connacht. A real pity henshaw didn’t stay there alongside him. I don’t think Aki has been brilliant for Ireland though, I think he’s another in a long line of project players that scrape international level or are just below it but somehow get picked ahead of Irish alternatives. I do think stander has been good for Ireland, if not exceptional. He is an good international level player. Both of them have been committed players for their clubs and Ireland and have contributed a lot in fairness.
Burns being selected bugs me more than stander or Aki to be honest.
