I have sacked Robert Jenrick from the Shadow Cabinet, removed the whip and suspended his party membership with immediate effect.
I was presented with clear, irrefutable evidence that he was plotting in secret to defect in a way designed to be as damaging as possible to his Shadow Cabinet colleagues and the wider Conservative Party.
The British public are tired of political psychodrama and so am I. They saw too much of it in the last government, they’re seeing too much of it in THIS government.
This is actually the high point of Badenoch’s tenure as Tory leader.
She’s got out ahead of the story and made Jenrick look like a bigger shit than she is. He looks like a self-obsessed greasy pole climbing backstabber now.
It’s far from certain but possible that at some point Farage takes on too many Tories for his own good and support declines because it’s too obvious Reform are merely the worst Tories rebranded.
Badenoch is unlikely to last beyond the summer. If enough of the worst, most corrupt, shameless and racist Tories have left the party by then, there might be a gap there for James Cleverly to take over and I think he could do reasonably well in shoring things up for them, possibly driving them in a slightly less headbanging direction, well, for a short while maybe.
I’d say they were waiting for an open door to push.

Big decision for Burnham. If he decides to run, he has to resign as mayor and lsbour and the greens are more or less neck and neck in the polls there. He loses and his political career is over. Outside chance of the greens and labour coming to “an agreement” here
I think Burnham will turn tail. He’ll sit with the snout in the trough at city hall before climbing rat cliff’s greasy pole.
His ideal scenario is not being recommended by central council and he can squeal foul from the sidelines whilst keeping his options open.
