Really disappointed that Jake O’ Brien isn’t in there. Feels like when Seamus Coleman was tearing it up and still left out of the Ireland team around 2011. Fair enough Doherty has actually been okay for Wolves in recent months but O’ Brien has to be in there somewhere.
@neilld. It’s time to push Nat Collins up to midfield in place of Josh Cullen. Slot O’ Brien in CB then if needed.

Sometimes very good club form might not be a slam dunk for international selection depending on style, formation etc. Moreso in midfield & attacking areas maybe but it’s centre back in a two, which is right up O’Brien’s street, & there’s an open slot alongside Nathan Collins. Scales has played the most recent games there. Seems a strange call indeed. Dara O’Shea is a decent player but he can acquit himself well at right back & that would have the positive benefit of getting Doherty out of the side.
