Calling Fran

Alright mate,

Im thinking of getting the 3 walls in my back garden concreted and painted. so it looks better than just having the bricks there.

I hope im describing it right?

anyway , how much would this cost?

Kind Regards

Not worth it mate. Just plant some shrubs near the walls and train them up there to hide the blockwork.

have you had a bad experience?

you have a strong horticultural background too so maybe you are biased?

Just got some quotes for a wall a few years back. Can’t remember them but just leaving plain blockwork was significantly cheaper.

fair enough.

where the fuck is fran by the way? generally I ask mac these questions but I dont want to be over reliant on him. However anytime I ask gmail or fran they take ages to respond while mac maybe a vile heinous hooked nose soup taking cunt but he is prompt in his responses

I rushed in to provide an answer on a topic I am uncertain on just to cover for Fran. I thought I might buy him a couple of minutes while he framed his response professionally. Now I’m left wondering if I’m just the schmuck with my neck on the line while Fran says nothing.

is there a function where I can report Fran in this situation, I think an infraction is due.

I’ll issue an infraction at 10:20am unless there is a comprehensive answer to your question and an apology delivered before then.

Concreted?
Plastered surely?
Is it blocks or bricks you want covered.

For what it’s worth I would kinda agree with Rocko, cover up is the solution.

Pining treated pine lattice to the wall and having creepers and bush grow up it will take time but far more worth it in the long run.
As soon as your expensive plaster starts cracking (couple if years) in the same time you’ll have nice green natural wall.
Don’t think short term.

plastered, thats what I was trying to say

@Fran has mugged poor Ned off here, good & proper.

Concrete a wall, he says.

plastered and painted, you are looking at about €25 to €30 per m2 one side. depending on vat/cash payments mates rates etc.

you can get decent laurel shrubs about a foot high for about €3 to €4 each, needing to plant about 3 every metre. would take a while for them to grow, about 1 to 2 feet growth per year.

sorry I couldnt get to you sooner, you should have asked me not fran.

Holy fucking Jaysus. It’s about 120+ per m2 here. That’s some difference

prices for everything have fallen completely here. at peak stage blockies would be on €2 or more per block. now some places pay 40c per block. average would be about 70 to 80c though. plastering is the same. that colour rend shit used to be anywhere near €50/m2 and now you can get it for €25 or so.

I fucking hate render.
That square meterage is in or around what it should be. Maybe block laying should be higher, but my point was more about the raping people are getting here. And as you know there is a hell of a lot of rendering here.

Apologies for the delay @Young Ned of the Hill. Gmail has well and truly mugged me off here.

An alternative would be a self-coloured render which would probably be a bit more expensive (€35-€40/m2 excluding VAT) but would require a lot less maintenance

yeah its similar to what it was here, people just get away with charging whatever the fuck they like because people think they have more income so can charge/pay more.

get better prices mate. that shit has fallen through the floor too as I noted above. if you do ever need links, let me know.

Fair enough, have rates of €31.50/m2 for K-Rend in larger quantities. Suppose it depends on the spec
