I see Gerald regularly enough in a cafe. I think he has a day where he brings three younger female colleagues for coffee/breakfast. Last time I overheard telling a joke very poorly, lots “no wait, first the barman did…” type moments. The three ladies were hanging on his every word and laughing along as and when required.
