That makes sense actually

Lads getting excited about someone dying who pretended to be a very tough soldier in a movie.

Hardly surprising on a forum full of pretenders.

He was no Norman Wisdom, that’s for sure.

A dark day as Big Tom goes to his eternal reward. One of the all time greats

The batle scenes were filmed in the now demolished Beckton Gas Works, better known as the filming location of the video for “D’You Know What I Mean” by Oasis.

Was looking shook the last few years. There was a BT & The Mainliners LP at home growing up. RIP big man

The final scene was a profound a statement on war. A bunch of brutalised, traumatised ordinary kids, heroes and criminals singing mickey mouse: Lost childhood, a longing for home, a shared experience, the absurdity of their experience, tragedy, the juxtaposition of two cultures, innocence, guilt, suffering, death and hope. It was all there in a few seconds. It was nothing short of extraordinary.

Kubrick is/was arguably one of if not the greatest film directors of all time.
