BBC2 radio every Saturday, midweek football Tuesdays / Wednesdays too. Remember listening to Leeds v Barcelona games in '75 EuropeanCup semi final, fucking hell where’s the Things that make me feel old thread?
I sometimes think to myself that the first half of the 1970s was the true golden age of English football.
Proper scarves, proper flat caps with team colours, proper singing, proper players, proper nicknames, proper post-match interviews, proper tackles, proper pitches, proper commentators, proper hooliganism, proper banners with a pole at each end.
The only places you see those sorts of banners now are Winning Streak and the Rose of Tralee.

Golden age of everything. Music, film, current affairs. I would love to have been of formative years back then.

Does he still do the commentaries for Today FM on Saturday afternoons?
He has a wonderful, warm, lilting Welsh accent. A real Welsh accent is a remarkable musical instrument.
Waiting on Ceefax updates — Lord above…

Some magnificent stuff here. That ITV panel on the last link is outstanding. Derek Dougan was some man. Talking about collusion and how the British public were wrong to vote for a Tory government.

Twas some pox waiting on the Waterford results when he had to read the results from 28 other counties first. Though sometimes he’d read the results province by province

What is our attitude to works of art produced by paedophiles, which don’t contain any paedophilia in and of themselves?
Are they invalidated by the artist’s paedophilia or do they stand apart from the artist’s paedophilia as outstanding works of art?

As long as he doesn’t have a woody around minors in them, yes.
What about Roman Polanski films, @mickee321 ?
What year did that stop?
It was on at 11.05pm on a Sunday as I recall

I don’t think they should be aired during coverage of the National Ploughing Championships, as TV3 did.

Pat Murphy is the midlands man. I remember George Hamilton on the BBC as well. Around 81-82.
