Awful news to wake up to. Pinetree was one of a kind

The widely held view in New Zealand is that he’s their greatest ever international.

It was nice that Meads at least died without carrying the dishonour that he’d carried for 50 years of being the last New Zealand player to be sent off in an international (well done Sonny Bill).

But unfortunately he has now been shown the ultimate red card.

Wrong thread lads, take it elsewhere.

@Little_Lord_Fauntleroy and @ChocolateMice making a show of themselves again.

He isn’t a celeb

Colin Meads was an A list sporting celebrity.

Stop making a fool of yourself now with your hard man anti-rugby routine.

Maybe in NZ not here

Stop acting the bollox you English prig

The sending off of Colin Meads in 1967 had a profound affect on NZ . Most New Zealanders alive at that time can tell you there they were when it happened or where they when they heard the news .

Rattled.

He was an A list sporting celebrity the world over none more so than when he toured the British Isles in 1963/64 and 1967.

Rattled that some nobody I never heard of died?

New Zealand’s September 11th moment, or was that the time two planes flew over Eden Park and dropped flourbombs on the pitch and hit a player?
