A very underrated guitarist was Eddie, not quite as good as Page, Clapton et al but as good as the rest.
Surely a WUM comment? Hard to compare two guitarists in different genres, but in terms of technical ability, EVH trumps Clapton at a canter. Page isn’t even at the races.

Richie Blackmore was a far better guitarist than Page and I say that as a Led Zeppelin fan boy

Just admit you were wrong. To call EVH underrated is the first error. EVH is worshipped worldwide and is very highly rated, and justifiably so. To say EVH is not as good as Page is flat out rubbish. Just like @Special_Olympiakos, I’d be a Page fanboy, but EVH is on another level to him.

They are all overrated compared to Jimi Hendrix, only SRV comes close.
If music is about a tune rather than a technique Johnny Marr is best of all time.

I lived with a guitarist in college and he could play all zeppelin stuff and most of Hendrix. He said one riff he couldn’t master no matter how often he tried was this charming man by the smiths.

Dave Gilmore is one of the purist players ever. Real unique sound, hear a song and know it’s him on guitar is a rare gift

Roger was there at the start, Gilmour is only an oul Johnny come lately
Knopler has a fantastic unique guitar sound, Slash is an awesome player, I always liked Prince’s playing as well
