Smartarse
I had octopus once in Venice. It was as black as the oily water flowing beside the restaurant. Never again.
Octopus is delicious if it’s cooked right, I’d always have gotten octopus at tapas bars in Spain, it’s been a long time
Yeah octopus is smashing.
What’s the difference between octopus and squid?
Two completely different animals
Octopus has to be cooked for hours to break down the toughness. Squid doesn’t
Squid tastes nice. Octopus doesn’t.
Octopus(Pulpo) turns purple when cooked mate. They must of gave you a dodgy bit if it turned black. Pulpo is delicious. mmm mmm mmm
A place in Sydney used to do a deep fried baby octopus. It was lovely

There never was a James Bond film named after a squid
Squid is quite bland though it has a fantastic texture for eating, you’d really need a dipping sauce
Octopus has a lovely deep flavour and while it’s usually served in a sauce which has been part of the cooking process it can stand on its own merits,
But obviously I respect your right not to like it, maybe it’s an acquired taste, I remember expecting it to be disgusting the first time I had it in Madrid around 99
Does calamari come from the same family?
I’ve had it a couple of times and tried to like it.
Squid that is not battered is not great either being honest.
I do a lovely seafood pasta, with squid, amongst other fish, not battered and it has a lovely gentle flavour.
Squid is calamari right?
You’re right of course. It was many years ago. Venetian Spaghetti. I asked the Italian waiter what it was and he made shapes like an octopus. Google now shows me it was indeed squid.
The black comes from squid ink, they use it in pasta dishes in Italy and in black paella in Spain. Black paella is delicious.
Chipirones, baby squid in ink sauce, Galician dish. You had it with spaghetti.
