The end of an era. RIP Motty
His voice was the soundbeat of British football
I don’t think football gets any better that.
Third round of the FA Cup, first weekend of January and a massive upset.
Snowing and shit pitches - but who cares?! The practicalities of the warmth of the sheepskin jacket over fashion.
Romantic football is dead and gone, it’s with Motty in the grave.
Have some respect for the man please. You already dismissed him as not being significant and are now discussing his life on a thread for nobody actors and singers.
He had a great voice.
The BBC had Motson and Barry Davies as commentators for most of my youth.
It doesn’t get much better than that.
I probably preferred Motson.
“For those viewers watching in black and white, Tottenham are in the yellow shirts”
John Motson RIP.
great clip.
Some commentator. Iconic voice. RIP
“It’s 110 degrees here in the Maracana, I can see Ray Wilkins warming up beside the dugout”……
Incredible really, the voice of an era.
And still Rickie Villa
When football was better…
Wanchope…
Look at that, what a goal by Brady…

"Ah very sad, he was an iconic voice. His great enthusiasm was a tonic to lawro’s unadulterated misery. "
He was on the early versions of Fifa as well wasn’t he? He had about 50 phrases which went around in a loop. An iconic voice alright.
I referenced a relationship with Lawrenson earlier also. But I did so reluctantly as I really don’t like Lawrenson.
