Suicide by gsw to the head
John Hemingway, last surviving RAF pilot from the Battle of Britain. Lived to the venerable age of 105.
Not a celebrity.
He nearly lived to see the next WW all the same.
He was no Harry Patch.
You could say he wasn’t a patch on him.
We give out about the Brits - rightly at times.
But the RAF arguably saved the world then from one of the most evil regimes in history. Everyone else was running scared. A great country in so many ways,

John Hemingway
For whom the bell tolls
No one had George Foreman.
Ali did him dirty back in the lead up to the Rumble.
RIP
He was some wrecking ball of a fighter. Did an absolute demolition job on Smokin Joe Frazier (also RIP) twice.
His comeback title win in the 90s is probably one of the greatest comeback stories in any sport ever.
And he changed grilling forever
Wore the same trunks as he had done in Zaire.
‘When we were Kings’ is a brilliant doc on the Rumble in the Jungle. There is footage of George hitting a heavy bag repeatedly with that right hand and it is a sight to behold. He was never the same after the Ali fight and as he said himself that was a good thing.
“He’d a punch like a kick from a horse”
My dad’s take on George
