Celebrity Deaths 2025 - Under 90s only

Linda Nolan. For the second day in a row a star of a Channel 4 show that ran on Friday nights in the first half of the 1990s dies aged 65.

Terry Christian is 64.

Channel 4 was at the cutting edge of TV stuff back then.

Slattery was hugely gifted but temperamental, Ryan Stiles was also hugely gifted I think but steady. In fact him and Colin Mochrie, also Canadian and also gifted, are still at it in the US. The show is on Comedy Central presented by the smoking hot Charlie from Friends,

They even went to the trouble of putting a little red triangle :small_red_triangle: in the top right hand corner of films with a bit of nookie in them so that you knew it was going to be worth your while watching.

Ah stop. It was like hitting the jackpot when u saw the red triangle.

Minder with George Cole and Denis Waterman was good for a bit of much sought after nudity of a Wednesday night in the early 80s. Myself and the brother would be glued to it but terrified the Ma would arrive into the living room at just the wrong time, which she invariably did.

No remote control to speed things up either. It was an undignified little shuffle across the living room to change channel.

Imagine explaining to youngsters now with all the gadgets that there wasn’t a remote control years ago?

:grinning:. I remember the Fallon’s down the road from us were the first family around to get a remote control tv (the cunts were the first to get everything). A couple of us were brought into their house to observe this new phenomenon. The remote was about the size of a laptop with a big white cable coming out the back of it and going across the living room floor into the back of the tv. When he pressed the massive button on it and the channel changed we thought we were witnessing some sort of sorcery or witchcraft.

We got one about 15 years later.

In our house the mother would proclaim at 8.59 pm every day “Will one of you get up and put on the News”.

We had a kitchen clock in the house which was hung above the door into the hall. We used to remark how weird it was to witness the clock at ten past nine during the Eurovision say and the news not being on.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration

I had an Eraserhead T-shirt when I was much younger. I think it was my favorite item of clothing of my entire life.

The scene in blue velvet where Hopper goes to Bens house with the ‘neighbor’ and in dreams comes on is one of the greatest in movie history

I wouldn’t say they were absolute favourites of mine but he definitely made interesting films. I really like Eraserhead.

My favourite old t-shirt was a Cathal Coughlan (RIP) Fatima Mansions era issue of the old anti-nuclear power symbol.

It consisted of a circled and crossed image of Mike Scott and the words “Raggle Taggle Nein Danke”

RIP to David Lynch. A visionary filmmaker.

David Lynch,

Wow. RIP

What a wonderfully weird and out there film maker he was. If I was a filmmaker I would want to make films like him.

Then he did The Straight Story. Which was a straight story yet absolutely brilliant.
