Celebrity Deaths 2026

Held Chelsea back for years.

I wouldn’t agree with that. Chelsea weren’t a big club and in truth still aren’t. They were in Division 2 when Bates bought the club for £1 in 1982. By the time he left in 2003 they had been consistent trophy winners and qualifiers for the Champions League for the previous four or five years and were a very attractive proposition for a Putin backed plutocrat multi-billionaire to come in and completely queer the pitch in the new wild west of English football.

That’s your opinion and you’re very much entitled to it.

I’m liking this new approach of yours

Jesus. Where would you start.

Event Horizon
Dead Calm
Hunt for Red October
Jurassic Park
Wilderpeople

Not to mention the tv stuff.

Iconic. Never seemed to take himself seriously either in interviews.

RIP.

Kane and Able in the 80s

I’ll have to rewatch Red October. He does such a stellar job in a supporting role.

A fine actor. R.I.P.

Sam Neill RIP, a great actor. Seemed like a thoroughly decent skin as well despite being from Tyrone.
Australians are doing this weird thing they and the English do and claiming Neill as their own. You know like when you see in the sleeve notes of Colm Toibin’s latest book that he is one of the UK’s great writers, now Neill is one of Australia’s great actors.

Blindboy has a mental short story with Sam Neill as a character

Total Eclipse of the Heart has been my constant earworm since the unfortunate passing of Bonnie Tyler last week. It’s a terrific song of course, but enough now.

I had a big thing for Penelope Keith when I was growing up. Her and Nurse Gladys.
By god.

Loved him in Hunt for the Wilderpeople

“Where we’re going, we won’t need eyes to see”.

Loved his performance in that. The bed of heaven to him.

Ah that’s sad. She had a tough time of it there. A decent skin I’d say. A fine legacy.

That pretty sums up what I was thinking,

RIP Brenda

Brendan O Connor did a good interview with her in her home a while back. A tough listen at times. It seemed she was ready to die. Just kind of waiting.

RIP
