Celtic Non-Matchday Discussion

Abada mainly plays on the right wing from what I’ve read about him.

Ntcham doesn’t seem to be in the squad anyway.

That’s where he played on Saturday when he came on. Big ask of him though to play straight away but we have precious few options.

Will you be setting up a round or match specific thread?

That squad is embarassing beyond belief. There is no justification for it whatsoever to be so bad, these qualifiers haven’t sprung out of nowhere

I wouldn’t give the board a hard time about the work done since Ange was appointed. However the gap between March-June with nothing done on the manager front or DOF is scandalous. Letting Howe dick about for months when a huge rebuild was clearly needed is unforgivable.

If the cunts had done their job and given Lennon the boot last October we would have still been in with a chance for the league and we’d be certainly a lot better prepared than we are now.

Im glad the deal with Howe collapsed, little englander fucker. I think Ange has a job on his hands but I do like him. I just hope he can somehow guide us through these games.

Agree 100% with all of that.

I think in recent seasons we’ve used the general qualifying round thread and it hasn’t gone well. It’s hardly complacency on our part, given how poor our squad has been for many of their games, but it does seem a little too casual and perhaps that attitude has carried through to the players.

I’ll set up a new thread now.

Genuine question, is it only a matter of how many points Sevco win the league by?

It looks that way. But that’s how it seemed last season before Celtic imploded.

With a new manager though and a squad with so many gaps it’s very hard to see Celtic putting together any sort of run that would challenge them

I don’t think so. I think they deserve to be favourites based on winning it at their ease last season allied to being much more settled than Celtic. I don’t think they have players agitating to leave for the EPL and elsewhere (though they may sell Morelos), whereas Celtic have a big rebuild to complete and that’s before you consider that the likes of Ajer, Edouard and Christie may also leave.

Naturally if we start poorly (we’ve Hearts and Rangers away in the first and fourth games respectively), you’ll get the pressure cranking up on Ange and the Scottish red tops and football phone ins etc won’t be shy in twisting the knife and calling him a flop. But if we manage to stay in touch for that first clutch of games up to the early September international break then I have faith we’ll settle down and kick on.

The trouble is it’s going to be completely helter skelter for the next 6 weeks. The board have taken deserved criticism for stalling on Eddie Howe, leaving it very late to get Ange and then being too slow to sanction and complete signings. It means we’ve to negotiate European qualifiers against a backdrop of players still getting to know/understand the manager’s methods, and with lots of players coming in and going out. It doesn’t make team-building easy and there’s also quarantine and pandemic protocols to negotiate. Like I say, if Ange can emerge from this early period in a decent position then I don’t think he’ll experience anything tougher in his time at Celtic.

Overall, Celtic to win the league at a relative canter.

How good do you think the huns are? They played very well in Europe against reasonable opposition.

Cult legend

That header against Dundee is one of the best you’ll see.

I still think Barkas is a better keeper than Bain.

The problem is neither are good enough to be number one. Best we can probably get for Barkas is a loan with an option to buy. Need a new keeper pronto

I think Barkas is just very low on confidence. I wouldn’t give up on him yet. Hope Ange opts for him over Bain, there’s lot of keepers who have had a ropey season and came back from it.
