Celtic Non-Matchday Discussion

Hardly good for Scotch football if a historically uncompetitive league becomes even less competitive?

you are looking at it from a footballing context rather than a it would be great to see the hun bigots in pain context

Exactly right. He needs an attitude adjustment.

What’s the verdict on CCV lads? I’m still a bit dubious but he’s improving, apparently Celtic have an option on him for £5m, don’t think he’s worth that if I’m honest but if he continues to improve we should be looking to make his deal permanent. In saying that £5m is not far off what we paid for Starfelt so maybe that’s a fair price in today’s market. I’d hope the board act quickly on Jota, the bhoy is sheer class.

I thought Welsh did really well in the early part of the season but he’s had a couple of dodgy games since Starfelt was injured. Jullien should be back before the close of the year so interesting to see if he can force his way in. I’m ok with our defensive options for the remainder of the season, if we can get rid of Bolingoli I think we should move for a left back but other than that I’d rather just focus on a few midfielders and an additional attacker.

I’m very happy with CCV lately. He’s defending stoutly and has good presence/aggression. He looked a bit rash early on but he’s settled down. You can also see in his demeanour he’s growing into it. He looks confident too and he’s starting to do more on the ball too. If he keeps this trajectory going then he’ll be a great addition.

Yeah, I just worry about his physique. The guy is unreal stocky, I don’t think I’ve seen a stockier centre half before, looks more like a rugby player. Now some of my fears about that have been unfounded but I will always find it tough to rid my prejudices due to his physique, I’d worry about his potential to have a long term injury and the impact it would then have on him.

The more players the better, he has improved us from set pieces which was a major failing of the sieve

before @thedancingbaby time but the Celtic defence with Mark Mcnally was known as the sieve

CCV looks pretty assured at the back now and a serious threat up the other end too. His deft finish against Hibs was ridiculous for a centre half. I’d have no problem running with him until the end of the season. His Spurs contract was extended by 12 months when he joined us so he’ll still have that year left when we need to decide to meet the set fee or not. I think him and Julien will make a solid partnership.

Starfelt has been disappointing, no point in saying otherwise.

Welsh is not up to it. Hes a 4th/5th choice at best. I still think we could do better for there as well

Welsh is a servicable back up for this season tbf. I don’t really see much need for a centre back in January but I’d be happy for us to try and strengthen there prior to next season. Maybe get Welsh out on loan next season and see how he does.

Well deserved Jocko callup for young Tony. Hopefully he doesn’t pick up a knock or anything now

Bertie Auld speaking in the last 30-40 seconds of this clip is very poignant. RIP.
