Celtic Non-Matchday Discussion

I wasn’t being economical at all. It was a phenomenal attendance for a mid afternoon midweek game against not particularly attractive opposition.

The demand for tickets has been high this season. Very hard to get a season ticket.

But yeah, there will be big demand for this game given the postponement and the lack of fans last season. But it’s a midweek evening which is tricky for travelling fans and there are no away supporters so I think there will be a better chance of getting tickets for that one then the final derby game (when we have already won the league and attention has turned to our upcoming Conference League final).

Ah right. How come there are no away supporters??
It wasn’t a normal midweek afternoon that game. Even sake sharks sell out that week.

October 19th was over the Christmas period?

Huns wouldn’t give any tickets to Celtic for Ibrox so Celtic reciprocated.

Are you getting your midweeks confused?

Apologies. I’m getting mixed up. That was a big European game though. League attendances looked relatively poor with lots of empty seats, but fulvio has probably explained why.
I was getting mixed up with the st Johnston game which was in fact away.

I am indeed.
Fcuk the huns.

There was a 500 cap on attendance at the St Johnstone game with no away support either - hence the stadium looked empty, The winter break was moved forward to avoid this recurring after it was imposed just before Christmas. It will hopefully be lifted in full now, if it hasn’t been already earlier this afternoon.

before @thedancingbaby time but the capacity of the new Celtic park is higher than the old Celtic park despite the old Celtic park only having seats in one stand

The two ends were huge expansive terraces but the jungle & the stand were by no means huge .

Yep, they jungle was pretty small.alright

The huns went mental when the new stadium was built. The general line was “it’s built from really cheap stuff, it’ll no last”

Ironic coming from themselves given their own stadiums repeated failings through the years

They were seething it had a bigger capacity than Ibrox.

BBC:

Scottish Premiership clubs have agreed to reintroduce the five substitutes rule for the remainder of the season to ease pressure on squads amid Covid-19.

9 subs allowed on the bench.

Good for Celtic and Sevco.

There was some data study done last season across Europe that suggested 5 subs actually benefited smaller clubs more. While everyone expected it would help the stronger clubs it seemed the opposite was the case. Mostly because the drop off in talent between the best player at Ross County and then 15th best player at Ross County is smaller than the drop from Kyogo to Ajeti for example. And maybe we saw that in the St Mirren game before Christmas when they changed so many players and it didn’t hurt them too much because their squad is full of players of reasonably similar ability.

Having said all that, with our style of play and high pressing game, and with the new squad depth it’s hard to see how it wouldn’t be a big help for us.
