Celtic Transfer Windows - Now 2025

As well as letting Dom McKay do deals. Seemingly CCV was the straw that broke the camels back? Laughable

This is bonkers stuff, at least for his faults Welsh is better than Murray and could slot in for an emergency. We effectively now have two Dane Murray’s who have barely played senior football, defies all logic

I don’t think Welsh is better than Murray. I’m surprised at the tolerance of Welsh this season based on him playing well for Motherwell. He’s not close to being good enough for Celtic.

Murray needs to improve but I’d rather a risky Murray than the proven level of Welsh.

I don’t think the CCV deal being an issue is real. That just took ages because frankly he wanted to go elsewhere.

Ange seemed to be fairly clear that McKay was inept and needed replacing. I imagine he’d have the same view of his successor and the other structures in place.

It’s an entire rebuild we need. Can’t do that in 3 weeks and that’s what MO’N had. It wasn’t a great window but it was never going to be.

We have needed entire rebuilds before and this is part of the problem. After O’Neil, Strachan had to rebuild. After Deila, the rat had to rebuild and after Lennon, Ange had to rebuild.

The main issue is not investing at the right time to rejuvenate the squad and being useless at getting deals done.

Hopefully the team can limp past Hearts and win the league…maybe even dream about the Europa final.

A good four months to the end of the season would be putting in place an ambitious Manager, buying players he wants.
Nicholson and McKay leaving for a start.
Replacing Mark Hargreaves.
Appointing a fans representative to the board, this could be JP, he’s liked and respected by the fans, obviously knows the club inside and out, and he’s Celtic through and through.
Put plans in place to replace the main stand, increase season tickets while having more tickets for public sale.

Murray had a cracking defensive header the last day.

That’s a savage recruitment drive. MO’N hands have been tied with the lack of recruitment. They were unfortunate to get Stuttgart instead of Robbie Keane’s Hungarian plodders. Is the Ox an option still? He’d be a grand free signing.

MON spoke openly about interest in the Ox at today’s presser. But it was general admiring words & no suggestion anything was likely, never mind imminent.

Well desperate times and all that. Its much of a muchness but Welsh has at least played a fair amount of games more than Murray, and the Brentford fella is a piss take

Yeah look I generally agree. I just don’t see any merit in Welsh. His passing is atrocious. His strength in the air is worse. And he’s very slow.

Murray looks slow and his passing looks poor. But he can head a ball occasionally and so far that’s a step up for a team that really lacks physicality. Especially with Araujo back there - I think MON wants bigger players because we’ve been weak on set pieces all season.

Cvancara - 6 foot 3
Junior Adamu - 6 foot
Benjamin Arthur - 6 foot 4

Give raheem sterling a buzz… shop window for him…

Am I right in thinking that he needs to be registered by today to be eligible for the Europa League and that Celtic can only register three new players for it? The usually reliable ChatGPT is providing me with mixed advice.

Correct on both counts.

Would you keep MON next season irrespective?
He surely is worth a seat on the board.

I don’t think he wants to stay on as manager.

I’m not sure he’d want any sort of full time role. He seems settled in London.

But I do think he has an ambition for Celtic that is sadly lacking in many others. One could argue Rodgers had similar drive and was frustrated by it. But he always appeared more self serving and couldn’t get buy in with the fans or the board as easily. Certainly second time around.

We’ll see how these loan signings turn out but he could certainly be involved in a less day to day job in recruitment and longer term strategy.

Would you keep him on if he wanted to stay though?
I’m not sure. He gets the club and what it means, the nuance and the hardship of the SPL, but I’m not sure would we be better with someone younger.
I think he’d be good at assessing signings alright, and would be a football voice on a business board.

The whole Celtic transfer strategy would remind you of trudging around the rails in TK Maxx hoping to find a decent jacket amongst all the XXXLs that have been discarded from outlet stores in the States
