Celtic Transfers Summer 2010

Presume Frey is off unless Boruc has been bought as as understudy.

Neil Lennon is a fan of Brad Guzan I believe.

An absolute shame to see the great man leave.

Disappointed we accepted a bid for him but it was reasonably inevitable he would leave. He’s put up with an awful lot of shit in Glasgow and his form hasn’t been supreme in the past two seasons. A super player though and part of some top drawer Celtic moments in recent years.

I’m still slightly surprised Celtic let him go so cheap. Was he in the last year of his contract?

Seems you’re bang on the money again Bandage. Bullard seems to have acted the cock here alright.

Agreed on the striker thing too.

Hull furious at player’s ‘absolutely ridiculous’ wage demands

Jimmy Bullard’s proposed season-long loan deal with Celtic has collapsed after the Hull City midfielder failed to agree personal terms with the Glasgow club. The injury prone midfielder, Hull’s highest earner on around £50,000 a week, travelled to Scotland for talks with Celtic last week but, to the disappointment of Hull’s head of football operations, Adam Pearson, Bullard is now expected back in East Yorkshire this week.

“The deal is off… because of the absolutely ridiculous financial demands being made by the player,” said Pearson. "We have bent over backwards to try to make this happen and four weeks ago there was an agreement with Celtic in place over a year-long loan.

"But now it seems Jimmy wants extra cash on top and he has jeopardised the chance to play for a great club. Who would not want to play for Celtic with a chance of European football and silverware?

“Hull City were prepared to subsidise a year in Glasgow for Bullard. Let’s just say we would have made a significant contribution to the overall wage package. But unless he has a dramatic change of heart overnight, we expect him back here. He has had four weeks to make up his mind and has strung people along, frankly.”

McManus’ move to Boro was also confirmed today. £1.5m. Good price for a very limited player. Good guy, just not talented enough.

This looks like it’s going through tomorrow. Apparently we’ve been scouting the Mexican market for the last 12-18 months on the back of their U17 team winning the World Cup in 2005 and he’s from that vintage. It would appear that Hinkel will certainly be away in that case. We’re moving on most of those entering the final year of their contracts, it seems. Hinkel would follow Boruc in that regard anyway.

I know we had a lot (too many in fact) of players on loan at the end of last season but there’s been a huge amount of player turnover this summer already:

OUT:
Robbie Keane, Diomansy Kamara, Landry N’Guemo, Lee Naylor, Edson Braafheid, Zheng Zhi, Koki Mizuno, Artur Boruc and Stephen McManus.

With possibly Hinkel, Samaras and McGeady to follow.

did McGeady go on the tour to the US?

No, he has what appears to be a convenient thigh strain. However, I’m informed by reliable Celtic Park sources that it’s a genuine 3 week injury though.

Where did Zhi go Bandage?

Very short on numbers now. Disappointed to see Hinkel go. Good player most of the time.

Zhi was on a 1-year contract and was released when it expired. I don’t know where he went - possibly straight home but he may have stopped in a shop on the way.

Celtic will step up their bid for the Nottingham Forest defender Kelvin Wilson. It seems Sol Campbell will reject a move to Parkhead.

Campbell has held talks in Glasgow with the Celtic manager, Neil Lennon, but has refused to commit to a deal. Sunderland are also interested in the 35-year-old centre-half.

Lennon is poised to confirm his interest in Wilson with a formal bid of around £2.5m for the 24-year-old.

The Mexican midfielder Efraín Juárez, 22, will sign a three-year deal, with the option for a fourth, with Celtic later this week.

Lee Grant has been recommended to Celtic, but no move has yet been made for the Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper, who could be available for £1m. Celtic’s former first-choice goalkeeper, Artur Boruc, passed a medical at Fiorentina today.

I’ve never seen that Wilson chap play but he’s been linked on and off since Lennon took over. Lennon must have been impressed with him during that brief spell he had in Nottingham before he retired.

I hear Boruc is looking for a big pay off from Celtic

If we can get rid of Heskey as part of the deal it will be barely acceptable as we need cover out wide.

Celtic Away Jersey

You’re having a laugh right?

Echoes of St Mirren away on 1985 in that spanking new away kit.

Not sure about this Wilson guy, haven’t seen him play.
