Celtic v FC Christ Almighty

Still there could be some glamorous Europa League ties against the likes of Sigma Olomouc and Lech Poznan

Don’t even attempt to improve is fine for me & you in our respective work situations, & I concur completely. But it’s not how i want my favourite professional football club to operate.

Abysmal

Why are Irish strikers always either lazy, constantly injured, mixed up with the wrong crowd, or plain shite? Or in some cases all of those.

There’s a strong recent trend of that alright. Troy seems to have turned it around. God be with the days of Robbie Keane going up for the year.

The stuff they did with Wanyama and Van Dijk and those lads was amazing but there was a lot of waste the last few years.

They’re obsessed with selling on for profit and that middle to lower end of the market.

Bet they could’ve got Parrot instead of Idah.

All those air miles burned in vain. A handsome home win so we could forfeit the away leg was the only responsible way to approach the tie.

Rogers is just a poor man’s allardyce these days.
And that’s bad.
Really bad.

We looked tired and short on ideas at the end of Rodgers’ last spell. That sort of performance level has crept in earlier this time. Absolutely not helped by a lack of investment in the squad or even replacing key departures. But we were far too slow to assert ourselves in both games. And that’s shared fairly equally between players, manager and board.

That was like watching Kenny’s Ireland. Zero intensity. Passing without purpose.

With no wide players to bring on after Yang & Forrest went off because of reasons already mentioned & having failed to score…I thought Rodgers should have changed formation & got two strikers on the pitch. It was all very predictable & the others were just locked into their defensive set up & had no out ball or ambition to attack. Give them something different to defend against & get Kenny or Shin playing off Idah.

He’d better save his money or invest it wisely.

Yeah. Nygren was understandably playing more narrow anyway so the middle was crowded. A Shin or Kenny buzzing around would at least have increased the tempo a little. And even if not, we weren’t creating anyway so it was worth the risk. Some sort of risk. We should be backing ourselves to have a better than 50|50 chance of beating them in an open game so it was madness to be so risk averse and end with penalties.

Looks like a sublime volleyed lob off a free kick for the Cypriots after 89 minutes has eliminated the 1991 European champions, making it 1-1 on the night and 3-2 on aggregate. Not altogether unlike David Platt’s goal against Belgium.

You could be here all night if you start honing in on different things. But the board prudently refusing to spend, say, £25mn so they miss out on £50m is absurd.

I don’t think the result tonight will change much from a transfer perspective. The imminent Balikwisha & Sarrachi signings will be confirmed & they’ll get one or two more in. But I don’t think they would have pushed the boat out, even if they progressed.

The Tierney situation is also odd. The line between a) him being sensibly managed & eased into things & b) it being fairly ridiculous that the starting left back can only play for an hour after a full pre season is getting a bit blurred for me. That’s just one thing but the team & playing style generally is very stale now & opponents with anything about them are finding it easy enough to stifle Celtic.

The lack of class in the front three exacerbates that so I’d fire Balikwisha straight into the team on Sunday.

You forgot the lack of class at the back. Oh and in midfield.

Reiss Nelson from Arsenal would be a good signing on the wing if he is going out on loan. Was probably more one to do with UCL cash at stake but he’s well up to the Europa League.

The Celtic board would rather buy 8 jumpers in Primark, wear one out, leave three in the cupboard til they’re thrown out in a spring clean a few years hence, and stick a couple on eBay, than buy one decent jumper that’ll see them through the years.
They’re like a junior fashion editor with handbags.

Q…Would you suspect Real Madrid or Bayern Munich are interested in him?

A…I didn’t think so either.
