Fuck sake Starfelt.

The early signs from Starfelt is he’s very, very rash

That’s terrible play by Starfelt.

That’s an OG by Gordon.

Bit of a lull now.

McCarthy on for his debut. Montgomery too.

Rogic and Kyogo off

Be interesting to see our Xg today

I’d give Edouard the last 10 mins off.

Home to Raith Rovers in the next round.

Few worrying signs defensively.

Starfelt doesn’t inspire confidence at all. We should have had the game 5-0 or something for a start but it’s still notable that our tempo drops significantly as the game goes on.

Yeah; it’s pretty mad that we lost the second half. It could have been 8-0 before they scored. I expressed some concerns about Starfelt the other day, that was poor for the penalty concession. The type of rashness and lack of awareness you’d associate with some clogger. I wonder if that midfield three will play away games against stronger opposition, Rogic and Turnbull seem to fade physically and don’t cover the ground brilliantly. That journeyman right winger they brought on at half time had a lot of joy:

Starfelt did something daft midweek against Jablonec where he went to ground stupidly and could have given a penalty away. Look he might improve as time goes on but I think it’s clear we need another established centre half in. Personally I’d have Welsh ahead of Starfelt at present. Welsh was decent today bar a silly yellow card.

Ralston had another brilliant game, Taylor has no end product and we need a new left back.

So 3 defenders are a must and and two attacker.

Edouard was good today, still lacking a little bit of confidence but his hunger definitely looked there. He was bursting a gut to get on things and heavily involved. Hopefully this continues. There was rumours that he’s looking for £85k a week and that’s put off clubs down south.

Surely Celtic could afford to offer him £50k a week on a 4 year deal and throw in a release clause of £30m or that? It’s win win for everyone. Over the course of 4 years it’s £8m. That’s what it would cost to replace him.

I thought for the midweek one he was just sliding to block the cross and your man dived. Didn’t think it was a tackle and more just a block. But he has looked rash. Not sure if today was more rash or careless. His first touch needed to be a clearance really. And for the actual foul I guess he was blind sided. But still really poor.

Regardless we’re not going to write him off. We have Welsh playing well and I’d say our cover is Bitton with Jullien to return and Murray as emergency. If we get Scales too he’ll cover two positions and then a right back. Can’t see us adding another centre back then with those options.

Ralston was excellent. Left back is a bigger concern but at least we may have other options there. We’ve no right back cover.

There’s no way Edouard will sign that. That’s why he’s not signing for anyone yet. Because he can hold off and get his 80k. So no incentive at all for him to sign for less money with such a high release clause. I thought he was good today but they got a couple of breaks from his pressing being not quite there. Definitely an improved effort but he doesn’t harass defenders the way he used to. But hopefully he’ll continue to improve.

I don’t think it was a penalty midweek either but it was utterly rash and reckless to go to ground.

We need another centre back. We need a right back, we need a left back and I wouldn’t include Scales there. We need a winger, we need a striker if Edouard goes. That’s what we need. We can afford all of us and anything bar adding quality additions in those positions is a failure.

No harm in putting it to his agent anyway.

Another Scooter classic
